Daily Affirmation #2

And Abraham drew near to Yahweh and said, “Will you also sweep away the righteous with the wicked?”

Genesis 18:23

Those that trust Adonai are treated differently than those who simply believe in Him. This isn’t a performance thing, but a TRUST thing. Trust is demonstrated by actions. Sabrina Romanoff, PsyD, says ‘To trust means to rely on another person because you feel safe with them and have confidence that they will not hurt or violate you.’ She feels trust is foundational because you can be totally honest, totally open, totally YOU, and not have to worry about defending yourself or having your innermost ‘you’ weaponised against you. It’s the same with Adonai. Our trust is shown in the things we do, say, and think. Our behaviour that is motivated by our trust in Adonai shows we trust Him. It shows we are safe and have confidence that He has our best in mind. By showing our reliance and total acceptance of His Goodness, we demonstrate our belief in Him. He favours those who do this. He favours those who trust and rely on Him. He makes friends with them because He can trust that they won’t try to violate boundaries. They won’t try to manipulate. They’ll be satisfied loving Him while He loves them. He’ll allow them to enforce what Jesus, as mediator for humanity, has negotiated for them. He’ll let us walk with Him. He’ll let us have a true relationship with Him. We’ll draw near to Him, and He will draw near to us.
