Daily Affirmation #3

Take away from Me the noise of your songs; I will not listen to the melody of your harps.

Amos 5:23

Faith is as faith does. I’ve heard that. But I don’t think that plays out against the Word. I think that faith does as faith is. We don’t strengthen faith by doing things. We do things by having strengthened faith. Remember that WE do nothing. It is by Jesus, in Jesus, through Jesus, and for Jesus that we do anything at all. If we don’t strengthen, access, and mix our faith in what we do, we’re stirring dirt and calling it soup. It just won’t work. If we’re not reading and then thinking about the Word – asking the Holy Spirit about it and listening for an answer – we’re wasting an opportunity. All Word into us is a benefit, but the more effort we make to exercise those spiritual muscles, the more we’ll deepen our time with the Lord. It isn’t so much about discovering what Jesus has already done for us. It’s about how much we engage in. It’s about how much we appropriate and draw into our soul and body from our spirit (which is perfected in Jesus, Amen). Trust (faith) in Messiah Jesus is absolutely the ONLY thing that should motivate ANYTHING we do. It is the lifeblood of the Kingdom. It is how everything works. It is how everything is received. It is how ALL the works of Ruach HaKodesh come through us to minister. The heart MATTERS. When we do all the right things, say all the right things, and sing all the right things, but they’re not motivated by trust in Jesus? They’re nothing. They’re worse than nothing. They’re an offense. We need to activate our trust to such a degree that it is the gold standard for how we act, talk, and think. Faith (trust) is how we please God (Hebrews 11:6). Our trust needs to be strengthened by hearing the Word, and then we need to engage with our trust. Engage it and bring it to where we can chew on it, think on it, speak through it, and get ourselves in total harmony with Adonai. Faith does as faith is, and we need our faith to DO – which it will as a natural byproduct (no effort required) of putting it as the foundation of our mindset and worldview. Root into Jesus, and watch trust go to work.
