When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father—that one will testify about me.
John 15:26 (emphasis added)
Why don’t we pray to Ruach HaKodesh? He’s with us. We can fellowship with Him. He’s our guide. He teaches us. He corrects us. He leads us. Well, the major reason why we don’t is that He wouldn’t listen. He isn’t a receiver, although He can hear us. He isn’t a censer. He wouldn’t take our prayers anywhere. Despite all the direct interaction He has with us – which is great – and despite being a full partner in the Godhead, He wouldn’t take them from us. Ruach HaKodesh is a signpost. He always and ever points to Jesus. That is one of His major ministries. Pointing to Jesus.
Those who want to learn true modesty and humbleness should study Ruach HaKodesh. When He moves with power and we WOW, He is right there saying, ‘Thank you, but right there. It was that guy’s words. Really. Go thank HIM.’ Every time. There’s nothing false about it either. He points to Jesus. Miracles? Jesus. Teaching? Jesus. Power in our lives? Jesus. Love? Definitely Jesus. He is always on about that guy. Ironically when you DO look at Jesus, He’s always pointing at His Father, so maybe it’s a family trait. But whether it is or whether it isn’t, Ruach HaKodesh doesn’t take credit or glory for anything. He’ll admit to doing something, but points to Jesus as the reason it was done and the authority it was done in. He’s a pointer who never forgets to point.
We NEED this pointer. It is so easy to be caught up in the physical experience of life. All sickness, infection, disease, negative emotions, etc have their foundation in sin. If we are indeed saved through what Jesus did on and through the cross, then that foundation no longer exists in our lives. Sin has been rooted out. There are no roots of sin in our lives. If there is no root, then how can a plant grow? How can the fruit of sin – such as sickness or infection – be present? The answer is that because of Jesus and what Jesus fully accomplished and finished, neither sin or its fruit has ANY authority to be present in your body or your life. That isn’t easy to remember or keep in your heart when you have a fever, or a runny nose, or pain. Ruach HaKodesh is there to point to Jesus. To remind us of Jesus. To be a confirmation to us that Jesus spoke the truth: we ARE redeemed. It is the same as when we look in a mirror and see all our flaws and foibles. Ruach HaKodesh is there to point to Jesus. To remind us that we ARE the Righteousness of Messiah Jesus when we inhabit (rest in) Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). These are the reminders we need. We need to remember to think and see spiritually, not physically or according to the thinking and rules of the natural world. We are able to achieve that because He is there pointing us to Jesus again and again and again. His ministry is faithful and He will never stop.
Ruach HaKodesh is the Spirit of Truth sent from the Father. The scriptures are the Word of Truth sent from the Father. They both have the same source. They will not EVER disagree. If there’s ever a discrepancy, we have either heard the Spirit wrong or we’ve interpreted the Word incorrectly. They will ALWAYS agree. We are blessed that Adonai is patient. He is Merciful and FULL of Grace. We can ask for clarity. We are in fact INSTRUCTED to test any spirits that may speak to us (1 John 4:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). Questions meant to clarify are never an issue with Adonai (Genesis 17:17; Luke 1:34). When we ask for clarification in full trust in Jesus, not in any way intending to disobey or delay, they are good questions. It’s only when we question because of a lack of trust in Jesus that we have problems. Ruach HaKodesh is there to point to Jesus as He speaks to show us the connection, to show us the agreement, to confirm with our spirit (which is 100% redeemed, perfected, and sealed from all sin – Ephesians 1:13) that He is speaking truth from the Father which He got from Jesus who IS the Word.
This immutable truth of Ruach HaKodesh always pointing to Jesus is a wonderful tool for us. If you’re facing a situation or a decision and haven’t a clue what to do, you can look at where Ruach HaKodesh is pointing. Where is Jesus in the situation? When you look at Him, which end result of the decision is He pointing toward? Listen for His words. Are they encouraging or are they cautioning? Are they concerned with your heart intent? Are you hearing a scripture rolling around in the back of your mind? Are you reminded of something Jesus did or said? If Ruach HaKodesh always points to Jesus, then wherever He points is where Jesus is. It’s a great reminder of who is in charge. Who is the victory and where you need to be to inhabit it.
Signposts are vital to our lives, physically and spiritually. We have THE most reliable one that has ever been set up. Don’t chafe when you feel it pointing in a direction you don’t want to go. Remember who is being pointed at and what we have available to us in Him. Every bad decision comes from a lack of trust in Jesus characterised by not looking to the Word and submitting to what we find there. Utilise the ministry of Ruach HaKodesh. Follow that finger and keep your eyes on Jesus where they belong.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Psalm 23:6
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” This is the promise of the rock. Remember the rock that followed the Israelites around the desert? No? It isn’t in scripture. It’s a Jewish tradition that came about. It apparently was connected to Miriam’s gifting from the Lord. It was the original rock that was struck by Moses (the time he was told to strike it, not the other time). It followed the Israelites around the desert giving them fresh, sweet water to drink. It might be crazy, but Paul used the legend in his letter to Corinth. “and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:4). Jesus said He was the Water and Bread of life (John 7:37-39 & John 6:35). Paul was driving home the point that we may as well be in a desert with nothing if we’re not relying on Jesus, because He is the ONLY bread and water available. He is the ONLY thing bringing LIFE. Just like the Israelites, as we are led by the smoke and fire of the Word (Psalm 119:105) and Ruach HaKodesh (John 16:13), so too is Jesus our rearguard. His goodness and mercy follows us everywhere we go. Giving us exactly what we need to stay spiritually hydrated and refreshed. This is our forever spot. Don’t seek to leave it. Do everything you can to stay right where He wants you. Dead centre in His will.

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
