if my people, who belong to me, humble themselves, pray, seek to please me, and repudiate their sinful practices, then I will respond from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (emphasis added)
Jesus separated us from our sin (1 Peter 2:24) so that we could be reborn into His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). Since the Spirit in IN us, the Father gives us LIFE through that resurrecting Spirit which lives in you (Romans 8:11). We can speak resurrection life to our bodies as we stay focused on the Lord and HIS will for our lives – we KNOW He wants us well. But when we leave things hidden in our lives, it WILL affect us in one way or another because the Lord should have ALL our life.
The fact is that it CAN be OUR sins that keep us from enjoying the healing God WANTS to give us. Because healing is ALWAYS there. Jesus took our sin and sickness on Himself. He paid for our healing with every bruise, stripe, and wound. The word was released for healing over two thousand years ago. God ALWAYS heals because God FINISHED healing. Everything was finished through Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection. It isn’t EVER God who misses it. It is ALWAYS us.
Sometimes, we miss it because something in our past has not been dealt with. When we have something that hasn’t been brought to God, we are standing there with an open door giving opportunity for sin/the curse to come in and attack us (Genesis 4:7). It isn’t ALWAYS the case, but it CAN BE. That is why we have to rely on the Holy Spirit and seek the Lord’s face. HE can tell us if there are unresolved issues.
If there are, we need to do more than simply say ‘sorry’. We need to REPENT. That process is us acknowledging our sin, repudiating our sin, and our confessing our sin. Then we take ACTION. We turn from it and move away from it and actively seek to not let it get its hooks into us again. We do that by getting the Word on it. By doing what the Lord says. And relying on the Spirit and Jesus to guide us, correct us, move us, and tell us where to stand. We do it by FAITH. And it will be done. Because if WE confess, then HE will forgive – as long as we are operating with an honest heart and mind (1 John 1:9).
The temple and the tabernacle were the place that interchange with God took place. He designated them as the place He would land and commune with us. Where we come to call and He answers. Where we altar to Him and give Him permission to move in our lives. In the New Covenant, WE are the temple. He is tabernacling WITH US directly (1 Corinthians 6:19; John 1:14). If we are the temple, we need to do everything we can to keep it clean, holy, and dedicated to Him.
“What shall we say then? Are we to remain in sin so that grace may increase? Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life. For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection. We know that our old man was crucified with him so that the body of sin would no longer dominate us, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. (For someone who has died has been freed from sin.) Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that since Christ has been raised from the dead, he is never going to die again; death no longer has mastery over him. For the death he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God. So you too consider yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires, and do not present your members to sin as instruments to be used for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead and your members to God as instruments to be used for righteousness. For sin will have no mastery over you, because you are not under law but under grace” (Romans 6:1-14).
THAT is repentance. THAT is right standing with God. We KNOW He is right. We ACKNOWLEDGE He is right. We do not shirk our RESPONSIBILITY. We make RESTITUTION. We accept His GRACE and MERCY. We take steps and action to ensure that we NEVER, EVER, EVER do it again. We change our mind to agree with His mind and get so disgusted with that sin (and sin period) that we won’t even get near it. And THAT is ONLY available IN JESUS. What’s our sign that we will get up in our temple healed, whole, and able to praise the Lord in divine health? The empty tomb. It was then. It is now. And it will be forever more. Amen.
There is more than just US at stake. There is everything that the Lord has included in His promise to us. The Israelites as individuals had one level of blessing. There was a WHOLE other level when it came to them as a collective group. Do you have ANY idea how prosperous you need to be as a nation or a region to be able to have national celebrations were tens of thousands of animals were sacrificed? Who raised them? Who fed them? Who could afford that? What about the imperfects that WEREN’T used? What was the ratio of unblemished lambs vs blemished lambs? And they did this THREE times a year! That’s a lot of animals that need to be in the pipeline. That’s a lot of good pasture. A lot of money. A lot of wealth flowing around for that to be a thing.
When your land is blessed, you’re going to have more produce. More goods to trade or to live off of. When you’re gleaning your fields, but leaving some behind to help the widows and the poor. When silver is as nothing to you because everyone is doing so well. These were conditions in Israel. How does that come about?? BLESSING. Healing the LAND ITSELF so that it’s best is given to you.
Have you talked to your property? Spoken to your lawn? Your rosebush? It’s not so crazy. A lot of people talk to their indoor plants. Why would outside be so weird? You SHOULD talk to them. Mark 16:15 records Jesus saying we should go preach to the whole CREATION. Start with your property. Words of life. Speaking growth and health. Speaking against weeds. Reminding it there’s not long to go and they will be remade into something truly awesome. You don’t have to shout it. Just speak it. In everything that we are stewards, we have the BLESSING. That includes our land, our property, our community, our nations. Whatever we have stewardship over, we can speak to. Whatever we have stewardship over, we need to keep holy.
Not only our bodies. Not only our property. But our homes. Are we keeping THEM clean? Or do we talk a lot of talk, but participate in things that glorify adultery, immorality, abortion, sexual misconduct, violence, magic, witchcraft, abuse, and anything at all that the Word comes against. The Lord is violently against the sin of the world. Why are we bringing it into our homes? Is your healing not quite there because you’re so immersed in a culture that the Lord does NOT participate in? Our righteousness includes more than our inner life. It is all around us. It SHOULD be our atmosphere.
If we SEEK HIM and humble ourselves before Him, then we will be in the right place to hear the hard words – if there are any – that lead us to deal with stuff we’ve been hiding from. Whenever the Lord brings it to your mind, go to the prayer closet of your mind and pray it out. Be corrected. Be guided. Be like Jesus by dwelling IN Jesus. Guard your tongue, guard your ears and your eyed. Let His Word fill your heart and flow out of your mouth. The BLESSING will flow with it. For you, your land, and those around you.
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Genesis 14:18
“Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (Now he was the priest of the Most High God.)” Melchizedek means ‘My King is Righteous’. He is mentioned again in Psalm 110 and Hebrews chapters 5-7. In the writings of the Qumran community he is described as a divinely empowered judge, supernatural deliverer, and one who awards inheritance to the righteous. Sounds like Jesus, doesn’t it? He brought out bread and wine. Sounds like Jesus, doesn’t it? Some believe this was a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus. Some believe he was one of the sons of Noah. Some believe he was simply a TYPE and SHADOW of Jesus. An example of all the things that Jesus walked in. A priest of a line that was NOT attached to the Levitical line or the Law of Moses. “where Jesus our forerunner entered on our behalf, since he became a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek” (Hebrews 6:20). Jesus IS a priest forever. Jesus IS a priest in the order of Melchizedek. Jesus IS Messiah.
