Now after he was baptized, Jesus immediately went up from the water, and behold, the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove coming upon him.
Matthew 3:16
A dove mates for life. They are prolific breeders – they’re VERY fruitful. Their milk carries more protein and fat. They can adapt themselves to almost any climate. Their speed makes them almost impossible to shoot down. Seeds make up a huge percentage of their diet. When you start thinking about doves, they were the perfect metaphor to show His nature. It also tied in with the dove that signalled to Noah the end of the Flood had arrived. A visible signal of salvation, if you will. But the nature of the dove and of Ruach HaKodesh are VERY similar.
Everything in the Kingdom is about seedtime and harvest. That doves mostly eat seeds is an interesting parallel. The seed of trust in Jesus is what Ruach HaKodesh responds to. He’s always looking for it. He can’t help but respond to it. Just like doves spend their days foraging for seeds, so too does Ruach HaKodesh forage for trust. They use different methods, but they’re both VERY good at rooting seed out.
Ruach HaKodesh was released by Jesus (John 20:22). He arrived after the resurrection (Acts 2:1-4). He is here to inhabit the bodies of believers, who make up the Body of Messiah, who are the Temple of Ruach HaKodesh (1 Corinthians 6:19). He is with us, and He is NEVER going to leave us. “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, in order that he may be with you forever” (John 14:16). Ruach HaKodesh isn’t going anywhere. He’s mated for life. No matter where we go and no matter what we do. It isn’t performance based. Whether we’re listening or missing it, he’s there. Whether we’re leading lives with sin in them or not, He’s not moving. Sure, He is going to be talking correction and repentance. And yeah, He’ll be convicting us on how we could be trusting in Jesus, reminding us of who we are (2 Corinthians 5:21). But He’ll be there. Always there. Never leaving.
Ruach HaKodesh speaks TRUTH. He speaks and reminds us of the WORD. It is pure and it is powerful. His words rate higher than most people’s words. They resonate more, because they are the words of Elohim Most High. This isn’t baby formula. This stuff is rich in spiritual nutrients. This is stuff that encourages, builds up, instructs, guides, enlightens, develops, strengthens, and soothes. It’s better than AI. Better than a live-in tutor. Better than a bookcase full of encyclopaedias and commentaries. It’s better than having emergency services next door. Jesus is the Word made flesh. Ruach HaKodesh is the Father’s power made breath. And He’s nesting in US.
Ruach HaKodesh inside us is like having an orchard in your pantry. There is ALWAYS fruit and there is NEVER any shortage, blight, or lack of variety. The transportation issues are all on our side of things. We fail to engage or download what is available. We forget that what we are baking calls for a lot of ingredients we may not have, but He is dripping with. And it’s there for us to engage and receive whenever we need it.
Ruach HaKodesh is a transformative presence in ANY believer’s life. He should be a transformative presence in EVERY believer’s life. He has been freely given. He’s necessary for us to accomplish anything because He is Jesus’ own route to touch the world. He is the power we work with when we work with Adonai. We cannot overcome this world without Jesus. We cannot maintain a connection with Jesus without Ruach Hakodesh. We should always be seeking to keep the nest clear of debris and the lines of communication wide open.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Psalm 145:9
“You will protect a firm inclination in peace, in peace because he trusts in you.” Or “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (MEV). Or “A person whose desire rests on you you preserve in perfect peace, because he trusts in you” (CJB). This is the Goodness of Elohim. He doesn’t leave us rattling around in our own heads. He gives us the tools to step out of what we see and feel and into His presence. Into His rest. The act of our trusting in Jesus opens the door to His peace smoothing out our mental and emotional wrinkles when it comes in. It defeats anxiety. It defeats fear. It defeats depression. These things CANNOT exist in us when we are actively choosing to trust in Jesus. If we will use the Word and our praises to actively keep our minds on Adonai Elohim, then His peace will be in our minds – kept there by Jesus’ own hand. We won’t be able to get messed up because our decision to trust in Jesus enables Him to KEEP His peace on us. If you choose to do nothing else that I ever suggest, choose to trust in Jesus. His peace makes it absolutely worthwhile every time.

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
