“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth—“
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning GOD. Throughout Creation (Genesis 1) the Hebrew word Elohim (God) appears. This isn’t a name, but a title. Which is why it is sometimes Ha-Elohim (The God). Within that title is plurality in the ‘im at the end of Elohim. It is a feminine plural within the masculine title. There is a balance of plurality within the Word. The plurality of the One True God. A single god (never gods) that contains plurality in and of Himself (His pronoun choice, not ours). They cannot be separated. From the beginning, Ruach HaKodesh was there. He is there. He will be there.
The masculine plural form of this Hebrew word (Elohim) doesn’t mean gods. But with the ‘Hashalush HaKadosh’ (the Trinity), the form allows for plurality in the Godhead. In Genesis 2:7 we are introduced to another aspect of Elohim: Adonai Elohim. Yahweh comes from the root ‘to be’ and expresses God’s closeness to human beings. The breath that entered our nostrils and made us living beings (of the soulish kind). He brought into us the life that existed in the Father. His role was always to exist within us. It was only when we rebelled and threw away everything that was for everything we thought we were getting that we were separated from Him – with the INSTANT result of feeling shame. In order for us to be the way we were meant and even to feel as we were meant to, we NEED Ruach HaKodesh. He was there in the beginning. He was part of our creation. He is part of who we were and who we are and who we are supposed to be. He is right there in the midst of God’s Name and right there in the midst of our identity in God.
He is the voice we see throughout the scriptures calling for the things of the Father. He is the answer to the trust in Jesus that comes from our lips. He is the rumble in the stormcloud. He is the whisper on the wind. He is the the way God walks through Creation. The MOVEMENT of God. He is all of that. He is just as much God as the Father or the Son. He is an identity and a personality and someone we can talk to, hear from, and know. Like we know our partners. Like we know our children. Like we know ourselves.
Since He is an implicit part of who God is, He is a part of everything to do with our spiritual lives. Since our spiritual lives touch every aspect of our physical lives, He is an implicit part of that as well. We cannot be separated from Him anymore than we could be separated from Messiah Jesus. He’s part of the package. And has always been. We tend to think of Him as mostly absent in the Bible until we hit the New Covenant, but an argument can be made He was the glory that filled the temple or the pillars the Hebrews followed. It gets so tied up in legends that it’s hard to discover the truth. But we KNOW from the Word He has always been part of God. He was there at the beginning. He rested on prophets and kings throughout the Old Covenants. And He dwells in us today and for always. We are His dwelling. His temple. We – in and through Jesus – are inseparable (Ephesians 1:13).
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Nehemiah 9:20
“And you gave your good Spirit to instruct them and did not withhold your manna from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst.” We have been given everything we need to thrive. First spiritually and then physically (3 John 1:2). We have Ruach HaKodesh to instruct and correct us (John 14:26). Jesus is our manna (John 6:33). Jesus is our water that quenches our thirst (John 4:13-14). We have EVERYTHING we need to thrive in Elohim. There might situationally be a desert, but we are perpetually in an oasis. We are never dry, never thirsty, never hungry, never ignorant. Always watered, always fed, always having access to knowledge and wisdom. They are always there in our spirit – where Elohim dwells. Your ‘feelings’ may report one thing, but the real reality – Kingdom reality – reports something VERY different (Romans 10:16-18). If we rest in Adonai Elohim as our Sabbath Rest (Hebrews 4:9), we will have everything we need right there for us to engage. To flick the switch and have it travel from our spirit to our soul and then our body. In times of dire need, everything we require. We serve a GOOD God.
Your Daily Confession of Elohim’s Goodness:
I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
