“Should I acquit the scales of wickedness, and the sack of dishonest weights?” (Micah 6:11). Humans can get to the place where they believe the responsibility for a transaction is on the other side. ‘I didn’t do anything. They LET me do it.’ This is an abhorrent attitude to the Lord. It’s an abomination to cheat someone. It’s WRONG to take advantage of someone. It’s wrong to let someone let you take advantage of them. That’s how important this is. WE need to watch our behaviour and our intent and make sure we’re not overstepping our bounds. Naturally, we can’t BE this righteous on our own. But if we’re putting the Lord first and keeping His Word before our eyes all the time, we’ll be thinking about it and will check in with Holy Spirit to see what we should do and what we should say BEFORE we do it. This is how we stay honest. We ask. We use HIS honesty, HIS truth, HIS kindness, HIS generosity. We don’t rely on OUR strength. We don’t rely on OUR habits. We take on HIS (2 Corinthians 5:17 & 21). Don’t go it alone. Go it His way on His path with His fruit operating in you intentfully. Be the light of the world by shining His light – especially when the other person is inviting you to be dim.
