Daily Affirmation #23:

that the sharing of your faith may be most effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you from Christ Jesus” (Philemon 1:6, MEV). Our trust in Jesus (also called faith) is activated by our praise. You don’t trust people who betray you. You don’t put your trust in those who continually let you down. You don’t get close to those who hurt you. We all want a better relationship with God (or we should). We can’t have relationship if we aren’t humbly submitted to Him and if we do not return His love. Well, it’s easy to put God on a pedestal. To think of Him as the mysterious Almighty up on a throne beyond the stars. You can’t have relationship with that. You can’t be submitted to that. You can revere that, but it’s a cold reverence. We need to keep in our minds all the many ways He’s touched us. All the many ways that He daily blesses us. All the many ways He speaks to us and nudges us and connects with us. If we will focus on all the good things that He does, we’ll find ourselves inhabiting a place of praise. We’ll find ourselves humble in His presence. We’ll find ourselves loving and grateful and happy to be near Him. We’ll find ourselves so much more responsive to His love with our love. We’ll start walking in the truth of what set us free. That place? It’s where trust strengthens and deepens and gets perfected. The more we think on and HEAR ofnthe goodness of God? The more we trust Him and the deeper into His love we want to go. It’s a great place to be.
