“I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger will turn away from them.
Hosea 14:4 (emphasis added)
Yahweh WANTS fellowship with us. Why is it that we don’t want it as badly as He does? Why do we choose to do bad things, reject what He offers, and walk our own way? Why don’t we choose to build up our spiritual eyes, spiritual ears, spiritual strength, as well as our faith and our belief so that we can perceive things of the Kingdom and the Spirit as easily as the world around us? Why aren’t we crucifying ourselves daily in order to put down the flesh and lift up the spirit?
There isn’t a great answer. The answer is that it is not easy. The answer is that we are lazy. The answer is that we are selfish. The answer is that it is hard to believe things we cannot touch. The answer is that we have more people telling us it is nonsense and fewer people encouraging us. The answer is those things and probably a bit more. While it is VERY true that it is the LORD who does the WORK, we have a part to play and that part takes effort. One of the biggest is the very simple word ‘believe’.
It means to ACCEPT something as true, genuine, and real. To have a firm and WHOLEHEARTED conviction/persuasion of something. To accept is to to be able or designed to take or hold. To to endure without protest or reaction. To to receive favourably something offered. And to to agree to undertake. THAT is belief. ANYTHING LESS is unbelief. This is the crux of so many things. Faith is eager expectation that the Lord is good for what He says He is good for. But do you BELIEVE that the faith you have will be rewarded? “Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6, emphasis mine).
You can’t have active and engaged faith if you don’t first BELIEVE. The reason is that we approach Yahweh BELIEVING, ask in FAITH, and then rest on those TWO things until the manifestation arrives – praising and thanking the Lord for the completed thing in the meantime. It is important to note that the thing you are asking for MUST be in accordance with the WORD and aligned with what YAHWEH wants. If you aren’t asking according to the WORD, you’re not asking Him for something HE wants to do. You’re not seeking something HE has promised. ALL requests MUST be based in the WORD and not the WORLD (James 3:4-6).
Belief is hard because it often flies in the face of what we see, what we know, and our experiences thus far. We NEED to learn to believe. It is an absolute must. NOTHING will happen without belief. Real belief, not head belief. It is a requirement to receive ANYTHING. Have you ever ordered the five-buck deal from Pizza Hut? You get a pizza for five dollars. You can buy THREE and it costs you fifteen dollars. It’s a great money-saving deal for those family meals, sports events, and other large-group entertaining. But there IS a catch. Not a big one. The FIRST pizza (medium or large) that you buy is regular price. You spend twenty to forty dollars and THEN every single pizza you buy is five dollars. That is a GREAT deal, right?
Well, Yahweh is the God who HEALS (Exodus 15:26). “You will be blessed beyond all peoples; there will be no barrenness among you or your livestock. The Lord will protect you from all sickness, and you will not experience any of the terrible diseases that you knew in Egypt; instead he will inflict them on all those who hate you” (Deuteronomy 7:14-15). That’s Old Covenant, but shows that the obedient submissive lover of Adonai will be protected from sickness and disease. That Yahweh wants us to be BLESSED more than anyone else on the planet. What about New Testament? “While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came to him who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he bowed down with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” So he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him” (Luke 5:12-13). Jesus hasn’t changed (Hebrews 13:8). He STILL wants to heal.
First, we need to belief. Second, we need to have eager expectation (faith) that He WILL in fact HEAL US. Without those two things, there will be no healing. You will not move toward supernatural healing without those two things. They are the foundation upon which all else is built. Jesus came to proclaim Good News to the poor (in spirit or in life), proclaim release to captives (from any kind of bondage), give sight to the blind (again in spirit or in life), free the oppressed (from all that oppresses), and to proclaim that we are now living in the Lord’s favour. That means that all our healing, deliverance, victory, peace, joy, prosperity, and freedom were Jesus’ ministry. “When he had received the sour wine, Jesus said, “It is completed!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit” (John 19:30). Jesus came, Jesus accomplished, and Jesus finished it.
‘finished’ is the Greek word ‘Teleo’ (tel-eh’-o), which means to bring to a close. To finish. To end. To perform the last act which completes a process so that the thing done corresponds to what has been said, the order, command etc. EVERYTHING that Jesus came to accomplish had been completed. It only needed to be made available to ALL. When Jesus was resurrected by the Father through the Holy Spirit, that happened. Everyone everywhere can through their BELIEF and FAITH receive ALL of what Jesus did.
It’s really that simple. It was unbelief that hindered Jesus (Mark 6:5). And it was belief that ENABLED Him to move in someone’s life. Like the woman who BELIEVED that if she only TOUCHED His clothes she would be healed. She had FAITH in the ability of the power to flow from Him to her. It happened (Mark 5:27-29). Jesus didn’t even know she was THERE until after the fact. Jesus wasn’t required to DO anything. Belief and faith enabled the Father to move through the Spirit by Jesus’ CLOTHES.
Like the girl who was sick and then DIED. She wasn’t comatose, she had ceased to be. What did Jesus say to the father when the news of the death came in? “But Jesus, paying no attention to what was said, told the synagogue leader, “Do not be afraid; just believe”” (Mark 5:36). The man did NOT waiver in His BELIEF that healing was possible. The man did NOT waiver in His FAITH that Jesus WOULD heal. Sick or dead, it did not matter. He BELIEVED and had FAITH Jesus COULD and WOULD heal her. Jesus did. She woke and was as healthy as you can be. She was even hungry (Mark 5:42-43).
We need to believe that the Father sent the Son to die in our place. To cleanse us from sin. To restore relationship. Dealing with sin. Freeing us and the Father from His anger toward sin which is no longer directed against us. Restoring fellowship. Taking us from our wayward state and bringing us into His arms. Under His wings. Healing us from ALL unrighteousness – body, mind, and spirit.
Kill your unbelief by getting into the Word. Let Adonai renew your mind to His ways and His will. We get eager expectation by hearing the Word. We get belief by hearing and seeing in the Word that the Lord God DOES do what the Lord God SAYS He will do. Nurture your spirit with His. Grow and strengthen your belief with the Word. Trust and rely on Him. He will NOT let you down.
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Exodus 12:5
“Your lamb must be perfect, a male, one year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats.” The lamb to be blemish free. ANY blemish of ANY kind was unacceptable. Jesus was sinless. Jesus wasn’t compromised in ANY way. “For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow sprinkled on those who are defiled consecrated them and provided ritual purity, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our consciences from dead works to worship the living God” (Hebrews 9:14). “You know that from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors you were ransomed—not by perishable things like silver or gold, but by precious blood like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely Christ” (1 Peter 1:19). Jesus IS without blemish. He IS our acceptable lamb. Jesus IS Messiah.
