“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you” (Matthew 6:33, MEV). Suggestion or survival? Jesus encouraged us to seek Elohim all the time. Not just Him but the Way of living in harmony with Him. The way of asking before leaping. To interact. Was this just for spiritual growth? No. It was also so that we can survive. “And them that are turned back from the Lord; and those that have not sought the Lord, nor enquired for him” (Zephaniah 1:6, LEB). The judgment of Elohim under the Old Covenant didn’t just come on the idolaters. It also fell on those who had followed Elohim, but turned away. And on those who didn’t seek Him in the first place. And those who didn’t ask Him things (where to go, what to do, and otherwise ordering life around Elohim’s will because you care enough to ask Him advice). We’re under the Age of Grace – but it will not last forever. We have a time allotted to believe in Jesus as Messiah, God’s Own Son who is Lord Over All. That sin is what the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) is here to convict the world of (John 16:8). Belief in Jesus is what gets you out of Hell. But when judgment comes, there will also be those who thought lip service was enough. Who didn’t seek Him. Who didn’t live in harmony with Him. Who never got their hearts open to Him – but who still think they’re Christians (Matthew 7:21-23). It is only by accepting Jesus and then seeking Him and seeking harmony with Him that keeps us from all forms of spiritual loss (1 Corinthians 3:15). Jesus wants us to have ABUNDANT life (John 10:10). And we won’t manage that if we’re not seeking Adonai’s face and seeking to walk in harmony with His Kingdom (according to the Word and character of God).
