“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed; His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 2:22-23). We NEED daily bread. The Israelites got it in the desert. Exodus 16:5 shows that God could send the manna (bread) in larger amounts than a single day. He could have chosen to do it week at a time or a month. But He didn’t. He did it daily so that the Israelites would learn to trust in Him for their sustenance on a daily basis. The Word is our bread (John 6:35). It is the process by which we get our spiritual sustenance. We were to have it daily (Matthew 6:11). We need to be looking to God on a daily basis for our spiritual food, just like we look for our physical food. The Mercy God shows to us also renews daily. Why? Because we so often don’t eat the Word or rely on it, run out of strength, and then do something we regret. We need that Mercy just as we need that Word. These things are renewed and offered to us. We need to renew our minds, reach out, and accept the things He offers. There is Blessing that needs to be engaged on a spirit-level every day. These things are ours because He says they’re ours. They don’t stack. They don’t hold over – except in special circumstances like salvation. They need to be engaged every day, with intent, because Jesus said they were ours. His daily Mercies. He is so good at providing them. Don’t miss out.
