Daily Affirmation #28

If a man carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and touches with his fold bread or stew, or wine or oil, or any food, will it become holy? The priests answered, “No.” Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean by contact with a dead body touches any of these, will it become unclean?” The priests answered, “It will become unclean.”” (Haggai 2:12-13). No matter how ‘clean’ we are, we cannot transfer that to someone else. We see this principle in the world all the time. If I brush up against you, it doesn’t make you clean. In fact, it’s much more likely your dirty will wipe off on me. I can’t heal you because I walk in health. We can pass a cold, but not health. We can pass bad habits, but good ones don’t just rub off. Our lives run on a downward trajectory in the natural world. For a fallen world, that’s normal. After all, we don’t fall up. We have to remember it is not US that does the thing, but Jesus IN US. We’re looking to spread the message about what Jesus did and hold to the revelation of what Jesus did – that is what enables health (and every other kind of righteousness). On our own we don’t have what it takes. But we can share the revelation of what it does take: Jesus.
