Ruach HaKodesh “Intelligent”

For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man that is in him? Thus also no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 2:11

Spirits are not intelligent because a spirit in and of themselves has no place to put their brains. They are ephemeral. They are like smoke on the wind, whisping about wherever the wind wills. This is often the picture the religious have of the Holy Ghost. This is NOT Ruach HaKodesh. Yes, He moves (Genesis 1:2). He is diaphanous, which is the nature of His physical self (made from the unseen, not made of invisible nothing – Hebrews 11:3), but He is VERY REAL. He can have physical shape that we can see with our natural eyes (Acts 2:2-3). He can also take spiritual shape that we can see with our hearts (Luke 3:21-22). He has a body that holds His mind the same way we do (Genesis 1:26). Ruach HaKodesh has intelligence.

Intelligence is the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations; the ability to apply knowledge to manipulate one’s environment or to think abstractly as measured by objective criteria; and mental acuteness (Merriam-Webster). It is the foundation of reason – or the scaffolding that reason clings to. Ruach HaKodesh has intelligence. “For to one is given a word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another a word of knowledge by the same Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:8). There would be no ability to accurately give exactly what each person needed without an intelligence to discern and decide. He is intelligent and USES that intelligence constantly.

For to us God has revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man that is in him? Thus also no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, in order that we may know the things freely given to us by God, things which we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people” (1 Corinthians 2:10-13). We want to think of Him as a spirit wisping about because it’s easier than admitting He has intelligence and is capable of thinking, of reasoning, and of understanding what He sees. But Ruach HaKodesh is capable of teaching. To know things and to share that knowledge. He only shares what He is authorised to, and that is the same thing Jesus does (John 12:49-50). The Trinity is ALWAYS in agreement. It is His nature. Ruach HaKodesh is our source for knowing the depths of God. He is the repository of that knowledge. He KNOWS it. How could He have that without intelligence?

Ruach HaKodesh is not some mindless spirit floating about touching the world on a whim. He is a thinking, reasoning, and knowledgeable Spirit with an actual form. We need to up our game in regards to our understanding of Him and this is a good place to start. He has intelligence. He uses it. We can interact with Him as fellow intelligent, thinking spirits. Thank you, Father, for giving us such a GREAT companion.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Psalm 135:3

Praise Yah, for Yahweh is good. Sing praises concerning his name, for it is pleasant.” From showers to vehicles to dorm rooms to streets, there is singing going on all over the world right now. Some of them are inspired by and directed to Elohim Himself. Just because He’s good. It is a pleasant thing to praise Adonai. It can change how you think. It can change how you speak. It can change your life. It is so great to enter into praise and enter into Jesus doing it. It is an incredible place to stand. Humbly submitted to Him and singing of His goodness, His mercy, and His thoughtfulness. It is a GOOD thing to sing of our GOOD God.
