Who has measured up the spirit of Yahweh or informed him as his counselor?
Isaiah 40:13
Knowledge is information and facts that we acquire mentally. It is the repository of understanding we each individually have. Libraries and other such places are the repository of understanding we have as a collective. As believers, we gave access to the mind of Messiah Jesus (1 Corinthians 2:16). We have access to the repository of understanding that Jesus has collected from before forever. The entire sum of everything Jesus of Nazareth learned about the human experience and about the merging of the human experience with the Kingdom Life of Adonai Elohim. Considering that ALL good things come from Elohim (James 1:17), we have access then to EVERY GOOD THING. Every concept. Every invention. Every idea. It’s all there available to us. However, much like walking into the Library of Congress intending to find a single passage in a single book, it is a tad bit overwhelming.
Wisdom, on the other hand, is the application of knowledge. Knowledge says the stove is hot. Wisdom tells us why it is hot and what we can do with that heat. Knowledge contributes to the idea of the tools needed to eat. Wisdom cooks the meal. Knowledge on its own has value, but it is pretty useless. Yet look at the emphasis humanity has placed on it. Look how we strive for it. Puff ourselves up when we have it. Give awards. Make position. Base social standing on it. But knowledge on its own has given not a single benefit to humanity. Ever.
One reason we have Ruach HaKadosh as a guide and counselor is because HE IS WISE. A counselor is a person trained to give guidance on personal, social, or psychological problems. Ruach HaKodesh is able to give guidance on personal, social, psychological, and spiritual situations (because there are no ‘problems’ with Elohim, only situations with answers). He is WELL ABLE to do this. He WILL do it ably IF we let Him. “Now to the one who is able to do beyond all measure more than all that we ask or think, according to the power that is at work in us” (Ephesians 3:20). If we don’t let it work in us, He won’t be able to do beyond measure. He won’t be able to do it ably. That’s right. WE can hinder Elohim (Luke 11:52; Psalm 78:41). If we will not listen to HIS wisdom and APPLY it to OUR knowledge, submitting in humble obedience (Matthew 11:28-30), NOTHING HAPPENS.
How often have we missed the boat because we won’t listen to His voice? How many times have we had to tromp through a field of weeds in a desert when we were meant to be walking through flowers next to a cool river? How often have we felt lost, not knowing what to do, the step to take next, or the right words to say? Who better to supply the WISDOM needed than Ruach HaKodesh? Who has managed to give HIM counsel? Who has managed to stand toe to toe with HIM? No one! If you EVER catch yourself thinking that you don’t need to check in with Ruach HaKodesh, read Job 38-39 and consider the final question Elohim asked Job in Job 40:1-2 “Then Yahweh answered Job and said, “Shall a faultfinder contend with Shaddai?
Anyone who argues with God must answer it.”” If you EVER think you don’t need to know what HE knows, you are off into the wild reaches of fantasy. How can ANY of us think that we know more than the Almighty Righteous and Perfect One? All of human knowledge put together is less than a molehill when compared with the knowledge AND wisdom of Adonai Elohim.
We can learn all there is to know. We can plumb the entire depths of human understanding. We can know the Word back to front and ESV to The Message. But it will be all for nothing if we cannot apply it to real life. If we don’t know HOW to turn it from concept to appropriate action, what good is it? Thank the Father we have been given Ruach HaKodesh who IS wisdom. Thank the Father we NEVER need to be lost. NEVER need to flounder. NEVER need to not have the right words. We have a counselor who is with us at all times with all wisdom to teach us all understanding. One word and one lesson at a time. Working through the entirety of our knowledge, and then starting to add to us His. What a gift. Don’t forsake it. Don’t ignore it. Don’t spurn it. Embrace it. Embrace HIM. And never, EVER, let go.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Exodus 33:19
“And he said, “I myself will cause all my goodness to pass over before you, and I will proclaim the name of Yahweh before you, and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will show compassion to whom I will show compassion.”” Isn’t that awesome? You should think so, because He chose YOU (Ephesians 1:4). He chose us before we could do anything to mess it up. He chose us before we could do anything to deserve it. He chose us before there was anything to choose but the idea in His mind which was the you that you are going to become in Jesus. He chose us to be gracious to. He chose us to be compassionate to. He chose us. His nature is defined by that choice, because love IS a choice. And HE chose YOU. He didn’t HAVE to send Jesus. He COULD have started from scratch with new people (Exodus 32:10; Matthew 3:9). But He CHOSE to love YOU. What a GOOD God we serve.
Your Daily Confession of Elohim’s Goodness:
I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
