Daily Affirmation #42

On that day there will be a spring opened up for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and impurity” (Zechariah 13:1, MEV). A mikveh in Judaism is a pool of water (collected VERY specifically) and used as a ritual bath where you immerse yourself to gain purity. The prophecy of this verse was in one way fulfilled on one special Passover when the Holy Spirit descended and bathed a group of about 120 believers with fire (Pentecost). The Holy Spirit was an artesian well springing forth with constant and consistent LIFE right out of our own spirits (our inner selves). When we submit to that flow and confess when we do wrong (individual sin), we are purified from our uncleanness. We are purified. Jesus’ sacrifice already purified us from Sin. When we stay submitted and open to correction by Holy Spirit – who will show us every area where we have opportunity to trust in Jesus – we can remain in a state of purity before Him (1 John 1:9). We can develop and nurture a heart for God’s ways and God’s morals and God’s righteous thoughts (Romans 6:12-23). What a great promise! Renewed every day (Luke 9:23) in Jesus through His sacrifice and washed clean by Holy Spirit’s fountain of LIFE rushing through us. No wonder it is written that the Father gives life to our bodies (physical, not just spiritual) through Holy Spirit who dwells in us (Romans 8:11). Amen and thank you, Father!
