Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Matthew 28:19
Notice that? Ruach HaKodesh is right there alongside the Father and the Son. Equal and coupled to them. Just like in the beginning (Genesis 1:1-2). Jesus was clear about this as well. Religious thinking has tried to reduce Ruach HaKodesh to a consolation prize. A nice aroma in the room, but nothing of substance. Even a cursory look at Ruach HaKodesh shows that this is a total and complete falsehood. A doctrine of demons trying to distract and decouple us from the power He represents.
Jesus had an active three year ministry. He had the Twelve close disciples, over 70 others, plus some other hangers on (women were in the 70) and helpers/supporters. That’s it. Maybe 150 dedicated people. That’s all He had. Ruach HaKodesh showed up during Pentecost and two THOUSAND people were added to the believers. It isn’t that Jesus couldn’t have done it, but the power of the Father became manifest only once Jesus was in Heaven in His role of our High Priest mediating for us through the Spirit of Truth who was in us. That’s not a consolation prize, and it was only the beginning.
The early church understood the relationship between the Godhead. “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you” (2 Corinthians 13:13). The power of Ruach HaKodesh is the fellowship He has with us; the fellowship He fosters between us and the Father and Jesus; and especially the fellowship the three of them enjoy as the One God of All (Yahweh, the Great I Am – Deuteronomy 6:4-15). It is because they are joined as one equal that they are Elohim. Can you really be separated from your breath when it is inside you? No. What about your son when your seed is still in your loins? No. They are indivisible with you. The miracle of who Elohim is can be found in their continued indivisibility while also interacting with us, each other, and all things as separate and distinct (while unified and whole).
It is a true shame that we don’t give Ruach HaKodesh the place He deserves in our thoughts and approaches to Adonai. Could we dismiss His voice if we really thought of Him as Elohim? No. I don’t think we could. When we think of Him as a divine conscience or a suggestion of what to do, it’s easy to dismiss what we hear. But if we really thought of Him as the VOICE OF ELOHIM then we could have no excuse. Who cares if we don’t want to? It’s ELOHIM asking. Who cares if we can’t see the way through. It’s ELOHIM asking. If we claim to love Him, we’ll obey Him – and that includes the voice of Ruach HaKodesh. He’s not bullying us. He is the Spirit of Truth pointing us to the right and only true ways there are to trust fully in Jesus. That’s going to take us out of our comfort zone. That’s going to take us to places we don’t WANT to go. Who cares? Ruach HaKodesh is the voice of the Living God and as such should be obeyed. We KNOW His voice (John 10:27-28). We WON’T be fooled when we are rooted in the Word and consistently seeking Adonai’s face. We’ll be able to test what we hear against the Word and rest in the knowledge that Jesus has our back.
Ruach HaKodesh is coupled with the Father and the Son. We are coupled with Ruach HaKodesh. Therefore we are plugged into Adonai Elohim in ways that we won’t comprehend without the Spirit of Truth teaching us (Psalm 32:8). Us and our children (Isaiah 54:13). We need to recognize His place so that we can take full advantage of ours.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: 1 Timothy 4:4
“because everything created by God is good and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thankfulness.“
This world is full of amazing things. Wonder and beauty and majesty – and that’s all natural stuff. But it is so easy to lean into human thinking and end up rejecting what we otherwise could have had. I’m not talking about when Adonai leads you into a given behaviour, lifestyle, or restriction. I’m talking where we have a totally free hand, but let religious thinking or human wisdom prevent us from enjoying what Adonai created to be enjoyed. We can ask the Father to bless our food. We can rejoice in the bounty we have access to. We don’t have to restrict ourselves in any way other than common sense and good stewardship of our bodies unless Adonai calls you to it. He made it all to be enjoyed. Don’t be robbed of something because of human thinking. Stick with the Spirit of Truth and His guidance. We’re here to enjoy what He made, not stare longingly through a fence we made. Be wise, be good stewards, and don’t let your flesh call the shots (fasting helps a lot). But enjoy what He puts before you. It is good. He made it so. He’s a GOOD God.
Your Daily Confession of Elohim’s Goodness:
I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
