And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will decree for them after those days, says the Lord: I am putting my laws on their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” He also says, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will never remember again.”
Hebrews 10:15-17
The word for ‘Lord’ here is ‘kurios’ and it’s used to denote someone who possesses authority, control, or power. It’s used to refer to God, Jesus Christ, and sometimes human masters. The term signifies respect, reverence, and acknowledgment of authority. It is marked in interlinear bibles as equivalent to the Hebrew words for both Adonai and Yahweh. Here Ruach HaKodesh is referenced as kurios. Ruach HaKodesh is identified in scripture as being Yahweh (sometimes translated as Jehovah in English/Western bibles).
In Jeremiah 31:31-34, Yahweh declares a future when knowledge of the Way we should go (Torah) will be written on the hearts of the people – we have a partial fulfillment of that today, but will have it perfectly in full during the Messianic Age. Further, Yahweh declares He will teach them and they will know Him – this began to be fulfilled at Pentecost. Ruach HaKodesh was given to us as a guide and teacher (John 14:26). In Acts 28:25-27, Paul states that Ruach HaKodesh spoke through the prophet Isaiah. You won’t find Ruach’s name in the book of Isaiah, but you WILL find Yahweh speaking to the prophet. Paul saw Ruach HaKodesh as equivalent to Yahweh. In Isaiah, Ruach HaKodesh is the voice of ‘the Lord’ calling out for someone to send and Isaiah answers. There is very little separation in the Old Covenant when it comes to the Father, the Son, and Ruach HaKodesh. It’s kind of sad that we want SUCH separation today.
The sad little doesn’t come close human example we have is a committee that releases a statement. The statement is not from one member, but from all. But the single statement speaks for everyone. In this pale shadow of the reality, we can see where again and again throughout scripture Jesus or the Father or Ruach HaKodesh may be speaking, but it is recorded as the Lord or Adonai or Elohim or Yahweh. God is God is God. Sometimes it is the appellation of the aspect we will understand and respond to most which is used. Other times, it will be the Voice that is named which is speaking. It can be confusing as a reader, but since they are ALL Yahweh, it often doesn’t matter who the voice is.
It is important, like with other aspects of Ruach HaKodesh’s character we’ve discussed, to remember that He IS Elohim. That He HAS made appearances interacting with people throughout scripture. That HE IS just as much as the Father or Jesus. It makes the relationship we can have with Him so much more mind spinning. I mean, it’s easier to accept the Father sending a flunkie to hang out with us than it is to realise that Elohim Himself has taken up residence within us in order to continue the perfecting work of complete restoration that He started before the world was (Ephesians 1:4-6). But in us He IS, and we need to realise that the voice inside us speaking so softly isn’t a Disney narrator. This isn’t a wildlife movie or an incredible journey. These aren’t suggestions if we feel like it. This is direct mind-to-mind, spirit-to-spirit, person-to-person communication with the Creator of Everything.
Truly, He MUST love us if He wants to hang with us 24/7. He MUST love us if He wants to reside within us as our souls and bodies are renewed to His point of view. He MUST love us to extend to us such Grace and Mercy that we can receive and walk in when we mature enough as human beings to make a decision on our own – no age limits or minimums for understanding. How can we not be a little shell shocked and eager to submit to His Will, seeking to be holy so that we can stand near His holiness and worship Him? What a wondrous opportunity. May it truly be said that none of us missed it. Amen.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Psalm 73:1
“Surely God is good to Israel, to those pure of heart.”
Elohim is a GOOD God. He cares for His people. He watches over His special nation. He remembers His Covenant with them and honours it. He is ALSO so generous and loving that He allowed Gentiles to be grafted into that Vine (Jesus – John 15). May we all purify our hearts with the Word and through faithful worship of Almighty Elohim. May we all seek His face in spirit and truth. Submitting to the Word and making sure that it never fades from within us. He is such a GOOD Father. He is such a GOOD God. My heart overflows with emotion and I can feel the tears packing the bus for a trip down my face. I shake my head and worship the Almighty for His interest in us. For His care. For His willingness to sanctify us and let us be pure in Him. May we truly understand it, and never step off His Way.
Your Daily Confession of Elohim’s Goodness:
I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
