Daily Affirmation #49

I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He answered me from His holy hill. Selah I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me” (Psalm 3:4-5). Sometimes we cry out to the Lord because we’ve forgotten to stay connected along the way. We’ve not sought His will or His thoughts on our actions, words, and what we give our attention to. We act on our own because it’s trivial, or our job, or something we’ve done a thousand times – and get blindsided by something He knew was coming, but couldn’t communicate to us because we weren’t listening. Not that He removes all trouble from us – He never promises that – but He DOES help us navigate and remove threats. When we don’t bother to check in? There He is. Still with us. Still ready to talk. Sustaining us through our alertness and our slumber. He is faithful to us in ways we really don’t imagine. Thank you God, for all that you do. Help me be a better LISTENER and a better ASKER of opinion, not just a crier for help. Amen.
