“I will both lie down in peace and sleep; for You, Lord, make me dwell safely and securely” (Psalm 4:8, MEV). How many nights has worry tried to steal from you? How many imaginary conversations and situations has anxiety walked you through in the darkness? How heavy has depression been as it sits on your chest or legs, making you breathe heavily? We do NOT have to put up with that! We have promises of His peace. Not as something struggled for. Freely given. Ours, just like that when we seek His face. When our trust doesn’t go into our words, our thinking, our machinations, or our ability to get up in the morning. When we have a clean trust. A crisp acknowledgement that God knows what He’s about. He knows what He’s promising. He knows who He’s promising it to. And He’s good for it. We CAN have peace. We CAN have sweet sleep. Not because we’re not obsessing or overthinking. We don’t need to obsess because there’s nothing there. We get our Z’s from Alpha-Omega. We sleep securely, untouched by any negative thinking. The whispers unable to access our ears (conscious and non). Because Jesus is on the case. His angels surround us. And all the negative nothings see is the cross. Sweet, secure sleep. Full of peace. Crystal clear and oh, so clean. Easy rest in His arms.
