Fear No Fear

He went out to the spring and threw the salt in. Then he said, “This is what the Lord has said, ‘I have purified this water. It will no longer cause death or fail to produce crops.’”

We use filters to make our water drinkable. We don’t think about it – unless things have gone wrong. Communities around the world are dying for lack of drinkable water. The things we have done to the environment combined with the deterioration of this natural world, which is also twisted by the curse, has made a literal SOUP of dangerous substances which lives in our water waiting to wipe us out. This thing – water – that we need to live, has been weaponised against us. Without help, it can harm us.

This is why we filter water. In most industrialised countries, municipal water treatment systems are usually quite effective. However, there have been incidents where contaminants from pollution, lead from outdated or faulty water pipes or residue from the use of pesticides have found their way into the tap water. Lead, pesticides, bacteria, viruses and many more physical, chemical, biological and radiological compounds and substances, find their way into the water supply. Drinking water containing bacteria and viruses can lead to serious health issues and diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera and dysentery. The industry of water filters and water purifiers have risen up to combat this. They are really effective. Modern health measures and modern scientific advancements and improvements in this field have almost eliminated MANY of these issues and problems and enabled us to enjoy fresh, safe, and clear water. It’s not true everywhere, but it is true in many places. With enough money and the will to spend it, it COULD be true everywhere.

That’s in this world. That is natural water purification. In the natural world, throwing salt into the water (like in today’s verse) would purify only what it touched and what was downstream from the point the salt touched the water. That’s how water and sediment works. It goes with the flow, and the flow is ALWAYS downstream. But THIS salt touched the water and purified the water that hadn’t yet come OUT. The very source of the spring was purified. That is flat out IMPOSSIBLE with all that we know about how things work. Yet Adonai worked it. Why? What point was He making?

Among other things, He was showing He is NOT bound by the natural. The throwing of salt was an act of faith. An act of eager expectation that Adonai would purify the water and solve this issue of a bad spring forever. It was also a type and shadow. If we let Him, Adonai can purify US forever. Not just our spiritual selves, but also our physical bodies. We can enjoy not just a healing, but also a divine health that will not deteriorate. We will AGE but we will NOT WEAKEN. Moses climbed up a mountain with a spring in his step, eyes bright and eager to see the land laid out before him, not a smidgen of a bit weary, weak, infirm, or aged as we think of it. We can have the SAME THING.

“On the last day of the feast, the greatest day, Jesus stood up and shouted out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. Just as the scripture says, ‘From within him will flow rivers of living water.’”” (John 7:37-38). Jesus is the answer to our spiritual thirst (John 4:10). He takes us from where we thirst for cleanliness but have to live with filth, to a place where we have an oasis within ourselves. It is NEVER the will of Adonai to leave us in a ‘dry place’. He is LIVING WATER all the time FLOWING out of us. That isn’t dry. That is a beautiful oasis. “The Lord will continually lead you; he will feed you even in parched regions. He will give you renewed strength, and you will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring that continually produces water” (Isaiah 58:11).

Adonai purifies not only our surface, but the SOURCE of our life. He BECOMES our source. Instead of a dead spirit, we have a living righteous spirit. “But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness” (Romans 8:10). We don’t HAVE to listen to our flesh. We don’t HAVE to listen to our carnal bodies. We don’t HAVE to run our lives based on the rules of this world. We can have MORE. We can experience MORE. We can get to the place where we CANNOT get sick. Why? Jesus COULDN’T get sick because He was not subject to the curse. He was baptised with the Holy Spirit, fully joined by the Spirit to His Father. Jesus couldn’t even have died unless He laid His life down on purpose by His own will (John 10:18). Jesus died on the cross, but He died not by heart attack or the pain or the suffering. He died because HE gave up His spirit.

That spirit is inside you. That same spirit that blessed Him with SUCH LIFE is inside you. It was the spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. That’s more than throwing off a cold. That’s more than renewing our tissues to make flu pass way. That’s more than blocking a coronavirus. This is a total regeneration of three-day-old corpse flesh. You ever seen anything dead three days and left alone? Even protected from the elements in a cave, this was NOT pretty. And the Holy Spirit totally, utterly, miraculously renewed each and every cell until that body was again living and breathing and functional. “Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you” (Romans 8:11). You HAVE that Spirit inside you. You CAN have the life it gives by direction of the Father JUST BECAUSE IT IS INSIDE YOU!

That’s exciting! That’s GRACE! That is why our bodies no longer cause death in ourselves. That is why we age but don’t deteriorate. No, we wouldn’t want to live in these bodies forever. But we can live in them as long as we are satisfied to (Psalm 91:16). I’ve done all the dying I am ever going to do. If you are saved, you have too. I will lay down this body when I am ready – and if Jesus stays away that is going to be a LONG time from now. I know I will make it as long as I want because my body is renewed at a DNA level every day. It is miraculous, but it is not unexpected. I focus my world around Adonai.

Oh, there are days I miss it. There are days I do not strive against my flesh. But all the time I get those whispers. I have to choose not to listen. I have to choose to ignore Him. Holy Spirit is so eager for fellowship with me, He is ALWAYS talking to me. My best days are days I talk back. I listen and then I talk. He listens and then He talks. It is great. It is not always intuitive. But the WORD makes it so much easier than it could be. It makes it natural. The more I give opportunity for Him to renew my mind by His Word, the more I have the opportunity to have His Word come alive in me. The more the Word comes alive in me, the more of His Spirit shines in me. The more of His Spirit that shines in me, the better I am. Physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and every other way. I am a better person, partner, child, and parent. I help to meet needs. I help to get things done and make things easier. I have the strength I need to serve. It is WONDERFUL. It is ABUNDANT LIFE and it is for us ALL (John 10:10).

The Lord Yeshua, Messiah, the Anointed and Living One, is the source of purified water. Water to cleanse. Water to cool. Water to refresh. Water to bless. Water to encourage. Water to REST. Jesus brings LIFE and Jesus brings HARVEST. In THAT environment, sickness doesn’t have a CHANCE. It grows and strengthens and deepens and enriches and gets to a point where it would be more likely for the sun to pop down into your living room than a sniffle try to take up residence in your nose.

Let Adonai wash you clean, keep washing you clean, and run out of you into the life of all those around you. He is the source of ALL THINGS. None of them are bad (James 1:17). Study the Word. Seek His face. Investigate what He is saying. It will change your world and unstop the spring that will start flowing and keep flowing and never EVER stop.

I will build for him a lasting dynasty, and he will serve my chosen one for all time.” Messiah would be a FAITHFUL priest. No one has EVER been as faithful as Jesus. “Therefore he had to be made like his brothers and sisters in every respect, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people” (Hebrews 2:17). “Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess, who is faithful to the one who appointed him, as Moses was also in God’s house. For he has come to deserve greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house deserves greater honor than the house itself!” (Hebrews 3:1-3). “But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. We are of his house, if in fact we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope we take pride in” (Hebrews 3:6). “but he holds his priesthood permanently since he lives forever. So he is able to save completely those who come to God through him because he always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:24-25). Jesus IS the Christ. Jesus IS the Anointed One of Yahweh. Jesus IS our Faithful Priest. Jesus IS Messiah.
