Ruach HaKodesh “Fill’er Up”

And do not be drunk with wine (in which is dissipation), but be filled by the Spirit,

Ephesians 5:18

There is NO safe level of alcoholic consumption. Short-term effects are hangovers, alcohol poisoning, falls, accidents, conflict, lowered inhibitions and risky behaviours. Long-term use has been linked to over 200 negative behaviours, sicknesses, and diseases. Again, there is NO safe level of alcoholic consumption.

On the other hand, there is no safe level of Ruach HaKodesh. You WILL be altered. You WILL have side effects. Short-term effects are peace, clarity, extra knowledge, specific words to say, better ways to pray, greater desire to praise, lowered inhibitions before Adonai, conflict resolution skills, and a knowledge of who Jesus is for you in every given situation. Long-term effects have been linked to nine Fruit of divine relationship, thirteen attributes of divine character, and sixty-six books full of lessons, encouragement, and education. Essentially lives forever changed and altered into something almost completely unrecognisable. Again, there is no safe level of Ruach HaKodesh interaction.

Ruach HaKodesh filling us also operates on another, more basic level. Think of a bucket. Put into that bucket anything you want. Then fill that bucket with something of a different make-up. Something that will push the first things up and out of the bucket. A slow-moving substance that will cover, encapsulate, and eventually remove from the bucket everything else that is there until there is only this new substance filling the bucket completely. That is the action of Ruach HaKodesh. “And the priests were not able to stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of Yahweh filled the house of God” (2 Chronicles 5:14). When holiness fills a space, then unholiness (or uncleanness or even less than perfect holiness) has to leave. It is how it works. Perfect love (Elohim) drives out fear (1 John 4:18). This is a HUGE advantage for the believer as our new nature (2 Corinthians 5:17) will be bolstered by Ruach HaKodesh to seek to push out of us everything that doesn’t operate with Ruach HaKodesh (Elohim) who dwells within us.

How much easier is it to be who we are called to be when our internal spaces are filled with the perfection that is Yahweh in the person of Ruach HaKodesh? How can sickness keep a foothold? How can disease take root? How can new conditions develop and darken our future when the Light of Life is radiating out from every pore? This is our reality. We are a temple and the Holy of Holies is inside of us. That’s serious stuff (read Leviticus for a primer on how to maintain holiness – just don’t forget Jesus took our punishment and was our sacrifice). We are full of life-giving power (Romans 8:11) like the wires connected to a power plant. Ready to ruah forth and DO once the switch is switched.

There are no downsides to being infilled with Ruach HaKodesh. Only positives. And the more we mesh with Him and build a relationship with Him, the more benefits we’ll see. The more we are faithful with the small corrections, the small shining of Light, the more opportunities we’ll be given. The more we rely on hearing His voice, hearing the words Jesus is speaking to us through Him, the more clearly we’ll hear. The easier it will be. And the more benefits we will see.

Being filled by Ruach HaKodesh is win-win-win all the way. Take the plunge. Rely on Him. Watch your world open up, lighten up, and transform your walk with Adonai Elohim.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Hebrews 13:16

And do not neglect doing good and generosity, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.” This clearly says that sometimes doing good and being generous is a pain. That it is inconvenient. That it could very well be an annoyance. It is to give up something important or valued for the sake of other considerations. We are to push through those feelings. To ignore them and not let them make us feel hard done by or defeated. To keep from letting them negatively impact our ability to do the things we need to. We don’t want to get weary (Galatians 6:9). It is a good thing to give things up for other people. It’s good to be generous. These are the things that please Yahweh. For us to be unselfish. For us to be generous. For us to act like He acts. For us to model Him in this world. For us to go around telling everyone I’m like my Daddy! It is a wonderful testimony and an awesome opportunity. What a GOOD God who lets us participate in good things.

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
