Daily Affirmation #54

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have established” (Psalm 8:3, MEV). The Israelites were given a command to wear Tzitzit on their clothes. Special tassels with a single blue sapphire cord woven in. They were designed to make the Jews remember to look up (at the sapphire sky). To keep your eyes on nature all around themselves. To view and meditate on the work of God’s hands. It builds feelings of reverence that we can take and build into emotions of worship. Emotions based on the awe such beauty brings. It’s a lot harder to choose to view unclean things that will lead to temptations when we’ve got our eyes on His handiwork and acknowledge it as such. Thinking on the wonders and Mercy of a God who makes and shares this work with us is humbling. And when we’re humble it’s easy to submit to His superior morality, ideas, and instructions. It’s easy to see that He MUST know best. He’s GOD after all. Not man made. Not man inspired. The Creator of ALL things. Amen. May we all learn to keep looking up so that our feet stay out of puddles.
