He sent them an assuring word and healed them; he rescued them from the pits where they were trapped.
Psalm 107:20 (emphasis added)
Who doesn’t like a good two for one deal? Especially one where you don’t need to buy the first thing to get the second thing free. A two for one, both free, gifted to you deal? Who would refuse that? Surprisingly, a LOT of people. Too many. People all over the world – believers and non-believers – are settling for less than they can get. Every day. And it NEEDS to stop.
Why is it that we will accept that Adonai wants to save us, but we will not accept that Adonai wants us to have a better life here? The world is not better. How often does someone pass and you hear ‘they have gone to a better place’? It’s a tragedy. If you aren’t a believer in Jesus, the chances that you are in a better place than here is extremely slim. True, Yahweh doesn’t hold sin against those who don’t know that it is sin, but He deals with ALL of us at a heart level. He seeks us and finds us. He calls to us. His message is everywhere. And we have an innate sense of right and wrong. Of justice and injustice. The chances that someone in today’s world can get from cradle to grave without being exposed to Adonai at some point is just as slim. Better place? The only better place than here is Heaven and the only way in is Jesus the Messiah.
Have you ever seen rich people? Seen their clothes? Their vehicles? The places they go on a WHIM? The homes they live in? It’s natural to start to think about how nice it would be to have it. That kind of abundant life. That kind of freedom to do what you want when you want and not worry about the price tag. That kind of wanting what others have is the backbone of advertising. We see a lifestyle portrayed or a body type and we buy the product that they claim got them where they are. The world knows ALL about that kind of thing. We could take a lesson from them. We SHOULD learn this lesson. When an individual sees another with a better something, they want that something too.
Why are we settling for being sick? Why are we settling for the same deal as the world? Why are we looking decrepit at 70? Why are we moaning about old age, feeling our age, or anything else like that? Why aren’t we looking older, but acting younger? As fit and strong and capable as we were in our twenties – but in our fifties? Sixties? Nineties? It’s possible. Science tells us that. The Word tells us we can be a minimum of a hundred and twenty with full vigour, eyesight, activity, and function. No mental deterioration. No physical deterioration – assuming we’ve taken care of ourselves. We should age, but NOT deteriorate. We should be fit, eating right, exercising, and running our lives the same way as we did when we were younger. There is NO reason not to. But that is not the general experience in the church.
I am not trying to lecture. I’m hoping to tickle your imagination. Can’t you see yourself aging, not gracefully, but slowly? Walking around looking younger than the world says you have a right to? FEELING younger than the world says you have any right to? Imagination is where it all starts. Let’s say all the rest of the promises of the Word aren’t there for a moment. Let’s say we have salvation of our souls in and through Jesus, the Anointed One, and this: rising up like the young whether we are or not. Wouldn’t that be worth grabbing? Worth walking in? Can’t you see yourself living like that? “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and may have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Abundantly. That means more than you have any right to expect. Doesn’t that SOUND like what I am talking about?
I try to keep this in mind in my day to day. When I get up and my body wants to creak, I mentally shift gears. I remember what it was like to rise up in my early twenties. When I lift something, I remember that my muscles are capable. I don’t have to moan and groan. I don’t need to wheeze and make noises. I can be THANKFUL and PRAISE the Father that He made me strong and capable. I can PRAISE Him that I am renewed from the inside out.
“But “when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, he saved us not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us in full measure through Jesus Christ our Savior.” (Titus 3:4-6). What if that rebirth and renewal isn’t just spiritual? Remember that we prosper physically as we do spiritually (3 John 1:2). What if Adonai meant what He said? That we get to have abundant life, being renewed in full vigour and youthfulness, more than we could possibly expect? What if we didn’t just get delivered from sin, but also from the curse? The curse of aging. The curse of infirmity. The curse of being the same as every other dying creature. What if we were freed from the Law of sin and death? What if we are governed by the Law of Righteousness?
There is no decay in Heaven. No absence of heat. No absence of light. No entropy. Everything is light and life. What if we are allowed to start walking in that now? Sure, this meat-sack has to stop at some point. But why not choose when? Jesus did (Matthew 27:50-51). We’re to be like Him (Philippians 2:5). We’re to THINK like Him and ACT like Him. That means we can rise up victorious. That means we can rise up able to function fully in all things in all our days. That means we can live abundantly and NOT suffer degeneration of any kind while we are here in this Earth.
Why not? I believe the Word 100%. I believe it is literal. I believe it is the WORD of the Most High God Above All. I believe I am heir to the promises within it. I believe that I get to have all that it says I can have. I was redeemed. I was delivered. I was set free. I KNOW it. I KNOW Adonai. I have made a choice that if THAT was true, the REST is true as well.
What about you? Are you delivered? Or are you delivered and healed?
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: 2 Samuel 7:14
“I will become his father and he will become my son. When he sins, I will correct him with the rod of men and with wounds inflicted by human beings.” Jesus was born in unique circumstances. Attested to by angels AND human beings. “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David” (Luke 1:32). Jesus was the First Begotten Son of Yahweh God Almighty. The Great I AM made flesh. He was born. He lived. He died. And He was raised again to life. “This gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy scriptures, concerning his Son who was a descendant of David with reference to the flesh, who was appointed the Son-of-God-in-power according to the Holy Spirit by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 1:2-4). Jesus of Nazareth, son of Mary and adopted son of Joseph, was the Son of God. Jesus IS Messiah.
