Healing Wings “Past Tense”

(All scripture from the NET, netbible.org, all rights reserved)

He was wounded because of our rebellious deeds, crushed because of our sins; he endured punishment that made us well; because of his wounds we have been healed.
Isaiah 53:5 (emphasis added)

The past is the time or a period of time before the moment you are experiencing now at this moment. Time itself as we experience it is the process of progressing through time from past to present without the ability to go back from the current moment. We – as human beings – are PHYSICALLY stuck in this arrow of time. Things that are behind are past, over, done with, and can be built on. If I pay off my mortgage, I don’t have to make payments on it anymore because it is behind me. It is PAST. Things that are past can be the building blocks of greatness. We often stand on the achievements of others to make it to even greater heights. That is how time works for the physical individuals that we are.

Past tense in English is pretty simple. The past tense in English is used: to talk about the past, to talk about hypotheses (when we imagine something), and for politeness. We use it to talk about the past: ‘He worked at McDonald’s. He had worked there since July.’ We use it to refer to the present or future in hypotheses: ‘It might be dangerous. Suppose they got lost.’ This use is very common in wishes: ‘I wish it wasn’t so cold.’ We use it in conditions with if: ‘He could get a new job if he really tried.’ For hypotheses, wishes and conditions in the past, we use the past perfect: ‘I would have helped him if he had asked.’ We also use it to talk about the present in a few polite expressions: ‘Excuse me, I was wondering if this was the train for York.’

That’s how it works. It is either behind us, expected to be behind us, or a reality we are hoping that is happening so that it replaces what is happening. Past. Behind. Done with. Pretty clear, yes? Okay. Language lesson over.

Today’s verse is looking into the future and seeing the past. In Matthew 8, Matthew references today’s verse. He was looking into the past and confirming it’s reality in the present. The exciting thing about the verses in Matthew (Chapter 8, verses 16&17) is that this was BEFORE the cross. BEFORE Jesus died and paid for sin, providing for us redemption from the curse. It was PHYSICAL healing based on something that hadn’t happened yet. How? Because SPIRITUALLY it had been accomplished in the PAST (Revelation 13:8). Jesus was walking it out in obedience to the Father’s Will. Choosing to make His past the present. Making His past decision our future. Where WE could take what HE did in the past and make it OUR present. That’s why we have Yahweh’s faith (Mark 11:22). We need to do it the same way He did for it to work because we are in HIM, so we can’t act contrary to HIM if we expect it to happen the way it did for Him.

We can ONLY do what has ALREADY been done. Because EVERYTHING Yahweh is going to do for US has been finished. “For in him all the fullness of deity lives in bodily form, and you have been filled in him, who is the head over every ruler and authority” (Colossians 2:9-10). We are in the FULLNESS of Jesus. We have been filled in Him. Anything accomplished in Jesus is accomplished in us because we are in Him and a part of Him. It is not our PHYSICAL selves in this state, but our SPIRITUAL selves. Our spiritual selves are enjoying the full benefits of ALL that the Father has for them (Ephesians 1:3). They are in heaven rejoicing with Him, in Jesus and abiding in all He is, they are with us and providing our connection to the Kingdom. They are spirits housed here, not stuck here.

We are SPIRIT beings, not flesh. Flesh is our housing. Our container. Our SPIRITS are supposed to be the source for our decisions. We aren’t meant to look to our feelings for our decisions. Feelings are information. They are the voice that says ‘hey, this is happening’ in the same way our senses do. Our spirits connect with Adonai and tell us ‘hey, this is what Adonai says is happening’ and ‘this is what Holy Spirit is reminding us is in the Word about what is happening’. Then we are to DECIDE to go with our spirit. THAT is how we are to make decisions. THAT is how we are to CHOOSE to exist, live, and move forward.

So our feelings, our senses, and those around us say ‘you are sick’ or ‘this is scary’ or ‘you only have this many days to live’. Our spirits tell us that is isn’t an issue because we WERE healed. Our spirits tell us that the Word says this is finished, solved, complete, and fixed. The DECISION is now ours: will we take it as TRUTH that we ARE healed because we WERE healed when Jesus died for us? Or will we DECIDE to go with our FEELINGS and remain unwell and not whole? It is THAT simple. If the Word is true, you have already been healed.
If we are healed, then we can reach to our spirit which is already experiencing the reality of Heaven. We can reach to it and choose to agree with it that the past is in the past. It is NOT the present. Our spirit reaches into Jesus’ past and says He is offering to us that thing He did as a thing we can have now. Today. Will we take it? Or will we not? If we want, we can be healed. We can accept that Jesus ALREADY did. We can be WERE HEALED instead of healing is coming.

Yes, it seems like a mental gymnastic performance. But it is simply this: you WERE healed. Past tense. Accept THAT as reality. You can be healed by believing WITHOUT DOUBT that it has ALREADY happened. Put your faith into that, believe that, don’t accept ANYTHING else, and once your mind and heart connect with it, you WILL be physically how you are spiritually (3 John 1:2).
Hold to this. Read about it. Study it. Examine it. Prove it true. You WERE healed. Past tense. Already done. Victory ACHIEVED. Don’t be lost waiting to hear. Make sure you get in on what has ALREADY been said, promised, sealed, and delivered by Jesus, in Jesus, through Jesus, and for Jesus. Healing is NOW. Healing is YOURS. Take it.

Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: 2 Kings 2:11

As they were walking along and talking, suddenly a fiery chariot pulled by fiery horses appeared. They went between Elijah and Elisha, and Elijah went up to heaven in a windstorm.” Everything in the Old Covenants are a type and shadow of what we are allowed to walk in in the New Covenant of Jesus, Messiah. In the Old, Elijah was taken up to heaven. Bodily. While he was breathing. He did not die first. There is no record of his death. This is similar to Enoch (Genesis 5:21-24). The language is similar, but there is no witness. There COULD be multiple explanations for Enoch. But Elisha WITNESSED the bodily ascension of a living man. This witness is important so that people would not doubt what was happening when Jesus ascended. “Now during the blessing he departed and was taken up into heaven” (Luke 24:51). Messiah bodily ascended into heaven as a living man. Jesus ascended as a living man. Jesus IS the Living One (Revelation 1:18). Jesus IS Messiah.

Yeshua is the Christ, the Son of the living God.
