Ruach HaKodesh “Dependents”

(All scripture from Lexham English Bible, Copyright 2012 Logos Bible Software)

Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself with my mind am enslaved to the law of God, but with my flesh I am enslaved to the law of sin.

Romans 7:24-25

A dependent is entirely reliant on someone else. They need that someone else for support – emotionally, mentally physically, or financially. You can also be dependent in a legal, jurisdictional sense. Mathematically, however, a dependent variable is an equivalent variable. They’re not statistically independent, but rather are connected co-equals with a need not to be parted. Sounds like doing these things with Adonai is a win-win.

We are dependent on Adonai. Period. Yahweh Yireh, the provider of all I need (Genesis 22:14). That is literally one of His names. “yet to us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we are for him, and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we are through him” (1 Corinthians 8:6). ALL things come from our Father in heaven. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of change” (James 1:17). Every good thing is from our Father and there is no change to the consistency and the constancy of His will to Bless us. Not based on OUR efforts or OUR worth, but on HIS love, HIS mercy, and HIS grace.

That’s why we are dependent on Him. We cannot earn or create on our own strength all that we need. We can’t even see all the stuff behind the scenes that we also need. We can do some things, but they won’t be the quality of things that He can provide us. On our own we were stuck with sin and death. In Jesus, we have life. We’re dependent on Him. “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2). He is the ONLY way we have (John 14:6). He is our support system (John 15:5). And without the Spirit of Truth in us we would have NO access to true wisdom or clear thinking (Isaiah 11:2). Without Jesus’ Spirit in us we’d have no restorative life coursing through us (Romans 8:11). Jesus was the ONLY atonement the Father accepted (Revelation 5:2-14). We are His dependents and without Ruach HaKodesh, we would have access to none of His power (Luke 24:49). But through Ruach HaKodesh, we’re connected to it all (James 1:5-8).

Galatians 3:28 shows us we are all the same in Jesus – first the Jew and then the Gentile. Jesus is the great leveller. There is no difference between us in Adonai’s eyes (Acts 10:34). And in Jesus, we are His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). Through Ruach HaKodesh, we are connected with Jesus. We are the same (spiritually) because we’re ‘using’ the same Spirit. His Spirit. As Jesus is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). Because we have the authority of His name. We have the keys to the Kingdom (Matthew 18:18). They were given to the Church and now we all share them. We each have the authority of Jesus. In the Father’s eyes were spiritually clones.Jesus gave us His authority to us in His name according to the Word and to the glory of the Father (Matthew 28:18). We are connected co-heirs in and with Jesus (Romans 8:16-17). Dependent, because we are not statistically independent (John 16:33).

We are dependent on Ruach HaKodesh to be the power the Father promised us. We are dependent on Ruach HaKodesh to be the conduit through whom we get the food He sends. Apart from Adonai we’re nothing. Together with Adonai we’re everything. Without Ruach HaKodesh we wouldn’t understand that or be able to walk in it. We’re dependent.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Hosea 6:6

Because I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, and knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.” Sacrifice doesn’t help us if it is sacrifices offered without a change of heart. Burnt offerings were nothing without heart intent. Works without trusting in Adonai is pointless. It’s stupid. What good does it do you? What good does it do around you? Empty ritual is nothing but emptiness being thrown at the Throne.  The widow’s mites were more precious than riches. The Gentile’s trust greater than the disciples’. The honest heart is always more valuable than the empty word. It doesn’t matter your stature in life or the level of economic success you have achieved. If you can’t be honest, true, and trusting with Him, then you have nothing. If we don’t know Him, we won’t trust Him. So if we don’t trust Him, we don’t really know His character. Our steadfast love will be better than our rituals and hymns. Our knowledge of His character will create in us pure hearts devoted to Him right down to the depths of us. We want grand pomp and circumstance. Not Adonai. He wants humble submission. He wants an honest relationship. He wants childlike trust. Because we deserves it. He’s faithful and true and loving, and He just deserves it. If you aren’t giving it to Him, look to His character. It’ll change your mind and deepen your love.

Your Daily Confession of Elohim’s Goodness:

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
