Daily Affirmation #57

The wicked will be turned to Sheol, and all the nations that forget God” (Psalm 9:17, MEV). A place where the wicked go. Hell. A place of torment and suffering. That’s one interpretation, and valid. But this verse seems to say that places where the wicked dwell will be turned INTO hell – or at least a place where the Blessing gets no foothold. Not because God wants to withhold it, but because the place (whether a home, a business, or a nation) has forgotten God. Turned away from Him and following His Way. Not a spot I’d want to be, but if you insist on it God will give you what your heart desires (Romans 1:27-29). This is what happened to the people who lived in the Land of Promise before the Jewish nation arrived. The people in the land were all descendants of God-seeking parents. Check the genealogies. Little by little they moved away from God. They stopped trusting Him. Stopped worshipping Him. Started worshipping other things. Started acting according to their flesh and not their spirit. God spoke to them, and tried to get them to stay true. But they did not. They chose the way of flesh, the way of self, and did not continue in the selfless love of God Almighty. They indulged their wicked desires with thoughts and then deeds. And just like it speaks in this psalm, the land itself spat them out (Leviticus 18:28). The land won’t want to be a hell on Earth. It won’t stand for it. It WILL spit out the wicked if they persist in their ways. It is better and wiser to submit to the Lord God Almighty and do what He selflessly wishes for you to do for YOUR benefit. He needs nothing from us. It is all because of His love for US and what He wants for US. Don’t forget God. Remember Him. Remember what He has done. Remember the Word. And walk straight paths before our GOOD God.
