“Every scheme of the wicked in his arrogance [says], “There is no God, [so] it won’t be held against me” (Psalm 10:4, CJB). The wicked and immoral know what they do is wrong. God has put a conscience in each one of us. We hide behind culture or the environment in which we are raised, saying that if we grow up where ‘A’ is considered normal then that’s what we’ll believe. On the surface that’s true. But underneath that will be our God given conscience telling us whether something is right or wrong based on His objective and righteous morality. That’s why society can tell you something is normal and accepted, but a given person will be SO offended and defensive if you say something contrary to that ‘norm’. They KNOW it’s wrong and they feel guilty. You aren’t making them feel that way, their own conscience is feeling that way. That’s also why they double down on there being no God or altering God into their own image of Him so that ‘god’ now aligns with what THEY say is right – denying their own consciences. It’s a desperation move to escape the guilty feelings God put there. No one on their own wants to be righteous. The flesh is broken, our spirits are broken, and our souls are broken. It takes Jesus, lovingly showing us we can be whole, that we can be free from bondage, and how much better life with Him is on every level, before we can break that pattern. When the Father calls us to Jesus, it’s about more than our address in the future. It’s about life, freedom, wholeness, and an escape from everything that wants to keep us twisted up in knots. The wicked and immoral know this, but they hide from the light of it. May we all hear the Father’s call and see what is REALLY going on.
