Fear No Fear

For to one is given a word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another a word of knowledge by the same Spirit,

1 Corinthians 12:8

Knowledge is an EXCELLENT thing and education should never be put on the back burner. If the educational institutions aren’t doing it right, take the ball into your own hands and get learning. Reading a book a week about any given single subject will make you among the top five experts in that subject in about five years. That’s an ENORMOUS benefit just by consuming words on paper (or audio/electronic devices). Knowledge is a great gift of Adonai, because what we have knowledge of we’re able to engage.

This can be a negative. By knowing of evil, we have the ability to learn of specific wrong things (objectively wrong by Adonai’s standards). When we know of a wrong thing, we can think of a wrong thing. If we think of a wrong thing, we can be tempted by a wrong thing. If we’re tempted, we can give in, and then do that wrong thing. This is the progression for how we sin EVERY TIME. We have to CONCEIVE sin (James 1:14-16). It doesn’t happen by accident, but by intent (Genesis 4:7). Not knowing can ALSO be a negative. If you don’t know you are the beneficiary of Aunt June’s will, you won’t know to claim the inheritance. If you don’t know you’re eligible for write-offs, you will pay more for your taxes. If you don’t know the differences between hemlock and parsley you could eat the hemlock and die (it’s poisonous). A lack of knowledge can kill (Hosea 4:6).

Knowledge can be an overwhelmingly positive thing IF you have the knowledge you need. But do you HAVE the knowledge you need? We do NOT always have the knowledge we need in every situation. That’s one of the reasons that Adonai encourages (and even mandates) community fellowship. We can help fill the gaps of knowledge we have by working together. I may not be able to fix a vehicle, but I am a word smith and can do a variety of manual labour. Someone else may be able to fix a vehicle, but know how to create a resume or prune a hedge. Maybe I can type a report, but I can’t create a monthly budget. Someone else will be able to. We can work together, doing what we can where others can’t, and others doing where we can’t. Teammates, companions, brothers and sisters, even one body of parts made whole. It’s a great way to live and work. What if you’re alone?

Ruach HaKodesh can give you a word of knowledge. It can be for anything and everything because He knows ALL things and can lead you into ALL knowledge. He may say no if you’re seeking unclean or sinful knowledge for your own unrighteous use (James 4:3-6). But He WILL give us the knowledge we need to minister, fellowship, and function. I’ve had words of knowledge about what was happening in places I wasn’t. I’ve had words of knowledge in order to fix or build things I had no idea how to fix or build. I’ve had it about relationships. I’ve had it about creative projects. I’ve had them in almost every area of my life. But I haven’t always used them as intended. That takes WISDOM. But I have received them.

Words of knowledge are available to every believer. You need to need them. You need to listen for them. You need to apply what you hear. You need to be thankful. That’s about it for criteria. It’s a basic way that Ruach HaKodesh communes with us. He is, after all, the Spirit of Truth. Don’t deny yourself a way that Adonai established to get knowledge into your hands. It’s like tying a hand behind your back and then wondering why you’re having trouble doing push-ups.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you—not as the world gives, I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” We do NOT need to let ourselves be anxious or depressed. NO you cannot WISH it away. But you CAN replace it with His peace. He’s given to us as a gift. A present something for us to open and use. He doesn’t give it with strings attached. We can open it and use it because He says we can open it and use it. Given in and through Jesus for every single person who believes and abides  in Jesus (who seeks His face). This is the Sabbath Rest for the believer. Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, given for humanity. We can trust in Jesus no matter WHAT we feel, see, hear, or experience. We can rest in His Peace, knowing He is right, He is Lord, and His peace is ours for the engaging – exactly like turning on a light with a switch. We can have real, and lasting peace by choice, at will – the Father’s will. What a GOOD God! What a GREAT gift!
