to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,

1 Corinthians 12:9

Trust is faith and faith is trust. You may have noticed by now that I don’t like the word ‘faith’. Nothing wrong with it in and of itself, but religious thinking has made FAITH this great, giant, near-supernatural force. It comes with a LOT of baggage. But faith is really just simple trust. It is the level of trust we have in Adonai. How do we build trust with Him? The same as we build trust with people. Knowing them, having experiences with them, and seeing if what they say matches what they do (trustworthiness). Faith as a word can seem like another type of sense or a force in and of itself, whereas trust is a heart decision that we make. When I say trust, I am referring to the definition of what faith is: trust in Adonai.

Generically, we develop and strengthen our trust in Adonai by hearing Him and hearing about Him. Speaking is how Adonai first met with His people as a whole group (Exodus 19:16-20:18). Why an audible voice? “Consequently, faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word about Christ” (Romans 10:17). Trust in Adonai is VITAL to have any real share in the Kingdom. That’s why (like everything else) He makes us available to us as a free gift of Grace. He gives us HIS trust (Mark 11:22). What we DO with that trust, is up to us. We all have the same measurement or amount of it (Romans 12:3). But if we aren’t hearing His Words, hearing teaching on Him, then we aren’t strengthening or deepening our trust and when we need to use it, it will be a limp noodle and not a mass of muscle able to stand in a storm. We have a saving trust whereby we got saved. There’s faith as a Fruit of Ruach HaKodesh whereby we have access to a special depth of spiritual character. We have our trust in Adonai whereby we live our day to day lives trusting in Him. They are all our ‘regular’ kinds of trust. What is the GIFT of trust?

In a word? Supernatural. Regular faith is developed by hearing the Word and matured by it renewing our minds (Romans 12:2) so that we can operate in it. But a GIFT of faith is a supernatural infusion of trust in Adonai for a supernatural result. It is abnormal and for a specific purpose. Not necessarily a one-shot. For example, you might be infused with trust that when you lay hands on everyone at a service who came to be healed WILL BE healed. That takes TRUST because we know that there is nothing you can do in and of yourself to heal them. You KNOW you need Adonai to do this and you KNOW you need to trust that He will do it through ordinary, non-special YOU. The Gift of Trust can do that.

Maybe Adonai has told you something big. Like BIG big. And you need a supernatural work to do it. Believing for the money for a building project or for something else you’re completely and utterly unable to accomplish. The Gift of Trust will supernaturally lend you the trust you need to wholly believe that you will receive that impossible thing. Daniel frequently had supernatural faith for supernatural events. How did he believe? Gift of Trust.  How else could he have faced those lions? His friends were gifted that trust facing the furnace of fire. Jesus had it facing the storm. He couldn’t as a man do squat. But as the faith filled servant of Adonai? He could speak the words the Father gave Him and still the storm. With the Gift of Trust, we can do the same.

It is a kind of trust that believes completely and totally in a sustained miraculous atmosphere where the impossible comes to pass by Adonai’s hand. Whether instantaneous, repeatedly, or years in the making will make NO difference. The Gift of Trust gives the trust that is needed and it lasts as long as it is needed. It is supernatural trust for supernatural events in supernatural timing.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Romans 12:21

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” We don’t fight fire with fire. We fight it with water. We don’t fight darkness with more darkness. We turn on lights. We don’t rage, we activate righteousness (James 1:20). There does not need to be balance. We do not need the one to understand the other. We can rest in Jesus, act in harmony with Adonai, stand on the Word and watch the devil flee from the Him that lives in us. By living in Jesus, by walking in His Righteousness, we overcome the evil that is seeking to take our eyes off of Adonai. As long as we seek Him first, nothing can be taken from us. We will be in Him and in Him have victory. He has made a way for us to be in the boat, and not in the storm. What a GOOD God!

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
