Daily Affirmation #67

Then if Yahweh your God enlarges your territory just as he swore to your ancestors and gives to you all the land that he promised to give to your ancestors, then if you diligently observe this entire commandment that I am commanding you today by loving Yahweh your God and by going in his ways at all times, then you shall add three more cities for yourselves to these three” (Deuteronomy 19:8-9). God said this to the Israelites before they went into the Land of Promise. But they never claimed everything that they could have had. All they needed to do was to obey His commandments. And if you take a good look at all of the Law set down in Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy you will not find hard laws, complicated laws, and MOST IMPORTANTLY you find very well laid out offerings and sacrifices to cover them any and every time that they failed to keep the commandments. In fact, being repentant and performing the sacrifice/offering for the offense made it like you hadn’t done the offense at all. So no, no one can keep the Law perfectly BUT if they repented and atoned through sacrifice (which is what Jesus did for us), then it was as if they HAD kept it. If they had been faithful in the small, they would have gotten a LOT more – the fullness of the promise. How like them are we! If we truly repent and accept Jesus’ sacrifice, our behaviour is covered. Our walk can be pure IN HIM. Yet how much do we hang onto what we shouldn’t? How much do we resist being renewed to HIS point of view? How much do we hang onto foolish ideas, foolish thinking, and broken morals? Too much. Yet if we would let ourselves live, breathe, and move in Him, how much wonder would our lives contain? How much Light would not just flow into us, but through us into the darkness of our world? Repent, renew, and rejoice in all that Jesus has done for you! Let HIM be what the world around you sees when they take a peek at what’s between your cover. Let the Word ring out from your mouth, your actions, and the voice that you portray.
