Daily Affirmation #72

Yes, let none who wait on You be ashamed; let them be ashamed who transgress without cause” (Psalm 25:3, MEV). The world tries to switch this around and we have LET THEM DO IT. We’re embarrassed to say we’re going to church. We don’t talk to the clerks in the grocery store about Jesus. There are people we work with and go to school with that have NO IDEA that we follow Jesus. And don’t get me started on the neighbours. When did we start to care? When did it become taboo to be a follower of Jesus? Right about when we took our eyes off of Him and started sinking in the morass of the world’s attention (Matthew 14:22-33). We need to realise that it is not the followers of Jesus who should be shamed, but those who are transgressing His morals just because they FEEL like it. They may not say that they know it’s wrong, but based on how angry they get and how frantically they lash out when you say something against their behaviour (even if it isn’t PERSONAL); they KNOW it’s wrong inside. It isn’t society that is making them feel shame and guilt. It is their own conscience. It is that tune deep in their heart put there by their Creator saying ‘I love you, do right’. They’re ashamed of going against it. Anyone would be. Everyone is when we go against it. THAT is the only shame we should EVER feel. We should NEVER be afraid to be a follower of Jesus, a lover of God, and someone who tries to obey that still, small voice. No matter WHAT anyone else says.
