He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so his loyal love prevails over those who fear him. As far as east is from west, so he has removed far from us the guilt of our transgressions.
Psalm 103:10-12
Anyone who isn’t immensely grateful for how Adonai deals with us when it comes to their mind is either ignorant of the truth or crazy. Have you EVER read Deuteronomy? It is SO CLEAR that to NOT be in harmony with Adonai is a really, really, REALLY bad idea. You set yourself up for some HORRIBLE things by going your own way. Adonai doesn’t even need to DO anything. We do it to ourselves. If anything, it is AMAZING that Adonai CHOOSES to say I, I, I – taking responsibility for things He did not do, He did not bring, He did not wish, and sometimes that He did not even ever imagine as a possibility (Jeremiah 19:5-6). The things that He could JUSTIFIABLY do are staggering to the mind. But He doesn’t do them. Because He is love.
That is not to say that He condones them or let them slip by. Far from it. It is more that He chooses not to deal with us as we deserve. He doesn’t give us justice, but mercy. Under grace, we have a window to repent. The Amalekites had one for over four hundred years. They didn’t take it. It didn’t go well for them. Nineveh took a temporary reprieve, and then scorned grace after about two hundred years. It didn’t go well for them. The Philistines. The Arameans. They too had a choice and did NOT choose Adonai. It went badly for them. Israel got exiled. More than once. They STILL don’t have the full promise that they have been promised by Adonai (but they WILL, you just watch). We are in the same boat. We can use the time of Grace to repent and get in harmony with Adonai, or it will not go well with us when the time for all things is up.
Ruach HaKodesh is with us – among other reasons – to consistently and constantly remind us of who we are in Jesus. To bring us remembrance of the things we are to remember (1 Corinthians 11:24-25; Luke 22:19). If we don’t consciously and with intent remember what He has done for us and what Jesus really went through and WHY, we will be in trouble of either forgetting or relegating it to the back burner. That is a recipe for idolatry (Colossians 3:5-11) since anything and everything that takes our eyes off of Him is an idol (Exodus 20:3; Deuteronomy 5:7). Without the constant reminders, we would neglect our relationship with Him and that is a terrible, terrible decision. Ask Aram.
Adonai is love and His corrections are loving. They are NEVER about loss and death. They are ALWAYS about building up and life. Building up the right way with the right materials. Ruach HaKodesh is a vital and intimate part of our remembering. Without Him, we wouldn’t amount to much. Maybe a hill of beans. Partially cooked. And mashed. In the sun. A week old. It wouldn’t be pretty.
I am grateful for Ruach HaKodesh. For the reminders. For the remembering. Even when it isn’t convenient. I am growing fonder of corrections. I mean, would you want to know right away, or later when it was a habit. Or had done its damage? Adonai isn’t about letting things fester. He isn’t about letting us get what we deserve. He is too merciful to let us forget. He is too merciful to stop before He gets through our thick heads. And I thank Adonai that He does.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Psalm 25:7
“Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions. According to your loyal love remember me if you will, for the sake of your goodness, O Yahweh.” Ruach HaKodesh is a rememberer. He helps us to remember what God has done for us. He helps us remember who we are in Jesus. He helps us to remember the things that our flesh would prefer we forget – especially if it will help us to indulge it. At the same time, Ruach HaKodesh is a not-rememberer. He does NOT remember the foolish things we’ve done. The sins we indulged in. The ones we repented of. The ones we have turned away from. They are NOT held against us. He does not hold them up and say ‘what about this’. For the sake of the GOODNESS of Adonai, our mistakes are wiped away when we honestly and truly submit them to Him. We are clean and we are treated as clean. Blank slates ready to be filled with His goodness. We do NOT get what we deserved to get. We get His BEST. What a GOOD God!

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
