The blind and lame came to him in the temple courts, and he healed them.
Matthew 21:14 (emphasis added)
Seeing is VERY important to our species. We put a LOT of stock in our sight. We’ve gone so far as to make sight our maxim: seeing is believing. Right behind that is moving. We LOVE moving. Whether it is about speed, about exploration, or simply about being able to get to what we have seen, movement plays a huge part in our lives and our civilisation.
Yet so much of sight is false. What we think we see isn’t actually what we see. It is totally controlled by our brain and whatever understanding we have cultivated there. For example, there was a perception experiment that was done. Viewers of a video of a group of people passing a basketball around were asked to count how often the ball was passed. When it was done, viewers had varying answers. But NONE of them saw the young man dressed in a bear costume who entered the frame, got in the middle of the group, and danced. Their brains were focused on a goal and ignored everything that wasn’t helpful to that goal.
Our sight is also limited. We cannot see China, but we trust that it is there. Technology doesn’t prove it because all of that COULD be faked. Phone calls don’t necessarily originate where we think. Pictures can be doctored. GPS can be faked. We have to BELIEVE that China is real and that our technology doesn’t lie. The same goes for our appearance. We must BELIEVE the mirror. We have never seen all our bodies. We have never seen our faces. All we have seen are reflections or representations of it. But we trust those images so much that we are perfect victims for both advertising campaigns and the House of Mirrors.
Movement is linked to sight. Without sight we cannot get anywhere. It is an amazing testament to the human mind that the blind can translate sound and touch into mental pictures that fill out their world nearly as rich as those with sight. Movement is linked to our health as well. The more we stay still, the worse it is for us. Anyone doubting that should look at a baby. Babies go through an incredible growth spurt in the first few years of their lives. During that time they rarely stay still. They are ALWAYS moving. Ever tried to put clothes on a baby? That should be an Olympic sport. It’s hard on a baby that WANTS to be clothed and an EVENT when they don’t want them. The human species was meant to MOVE.
There are MANY sicknesses and diseases that attack sight and movement. You know why that is, right? If the enemy can get you not to SEE it, you will not MOVE toward it. If you SEE it, but cannot MOVE, you’ll stay where you are and not RECEIVE it. They are linked things. How does this apply to today’s verse? Hardness of heart. That is not hardness of heart I’m going to tear down the gates of heaven and set myself up. That is not atheistic hardness of heart. That is not Pharaoh you’re not taking my slaves hardness of heart. This is simply not seeing hardness of heart.
Adonai says that we need to keep the scriptures before our eyes day and night. “This law scroll must not leave your lips. You must memorize it day and night so you can carefully obey all that is written in it. Then you will prosper and be successful” (Joshua 1:8). Day and night. This was told to Joshua right before the largest period of war, conquest, claiming, and struggle that Israel EVER walked in. He was not told keep your weapons ready. He did not get told to make sure your military intelligence is intelligent. He was not told to keep his people fit, his food supply secured, his rearguard ready, or any other piece of conventional wisdom. He wasn’t even told to take a fresh change of undies just in case. He was told to LOOK at the Word DAY and NIGHT.
What we SEE is what we perceive. Not from our own brilliance, but from observation. That is what perceive means: to become aware of through the senses. If we are focused on the natural world around us, the physical things that we see and experience and observe, then we will have little to no revelation. We will struggle with victory. We will always be asking Yahweh please, please, oh PLEASE! We need a miracle! Because all we will have is what we can see and touch. We will have the mundane. We will have a 2D life.
The Word isn’t natural. It is Jesus. It is Adonai. It is supernaturally divine, living, and very, very real. It is SPIRITUAL. If we do not observe it REGULARLY, we will not understand its truth. We will miss revelation. We will miss the rest of the story. All we will see is the superficial upper surface. Not the deep, rich, life-sustaining, life-giving, blessing-giving, Word of Yahweh Almighty. We will have knowledge of verses, lessons, teaching, and guidance. But we will have no ACCESS to the rest of it. Do you want to WALK in what Jesus did? You need ACCESS to it. Jesus was ANOINTED. He was fully man. Not innately miraculous. He needed the OTHER half of His identity. He was ANOINTED by the Holy Spirit and began to operate in ways we STILL wonder at. But JESUS told us we can abide in Him and He would abide in us ALONG WITH THE FATHER (John 15:4). When we do that, we have a PRECIOUS gift.
“Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help” (Hebrews 4:16). This is what we have in Jesus. But if you look closely at the Greek, it reads a little differently. It reads: ‘we may approach therefore with a freedom of speech to the throne of the joy that we might take mercy and joy that we might find in it well-timed emergency help’. That is a TREMENDOUS promise. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (in a close look at the Greek) reads: ‘The unmerited divine influence of Me (Jesus) on your heart raises a barrier which replaces with great joy your want of strength/sicknesses/diseases. Therefore we can rejoice because our weaknesses is replaced by His strength’. Are you SEEING the promise?
We can BOLDLY approach the Throne of GRACE. That is the Throne of the barrier of GREAT JOY that replaces our sickness. We can go to THAT Throne with a total and complete freedom to speak. We don’t have to WAIT. We don’t have to be quiet. We are ALLOWED and ENCOURAGED to speak to that Throne. That Throne where we are to TAKE mercy and joy. Take them. They are freely offered with the unmerited divine influence of Jesus who is Messiah our intercessor before that Throne. We can TAKE that mercy and joy that will REPLACE our sicknesses, diseases, and lack of strength. The SAME promise as to Israel (Nehemiah 8:10), but SO MUCH BETTER. The JOY of ADONAI is our STRENGTH. Replacing our sickness. REPLACING IT.
You cannot see that if you are not observing the Word. Every day. We need CONSTANT reminders of what and who Jesus is. In JESUS we are the Righteousness of God. We have to see it if we want to move in it. We MUST move in it because Yahweh is a God of MOTION (Genesis 1:2). If you want to stay IN Jesus, you have to move WITH Jesus. You cannot do that if you don’t keep the Word before your eyes. You don’t want to legalise it. You don’t want to turn it into a series of tasks or court cases. You want to keep it fresh and bold and rich and yours. Not just a message of hope to the lost. But the very food and drink that will SUSTAIN you (and them).
Jesus HEALED the blind. Jesus HEALED the lame. In JESUS I SEE. In JESUS I MOVE. The enemy cannot STOP YOU. The enemy cannot HOLD YOU DOWN. You are the RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD in MESSIAH JESUS! Keep the Word in front of your eyes so that you can perceive the things of Adonai as Holy Spirit brings it to mind. You don’t want to miss ANYTHING He has for you. Living water flowing up from inside you with NO END. That is LIFE. That is ABUNDANT LIFE. Nothing of darkness can live in that atmosphere, and that atmosphere will be IN you, AROUND you, and ON you as you humbly submit to what you observe in the Word.
Be healed. Be whole. SEE and MOVE in Jesus!
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Psalm 17:15
“As for me, because I am innocent I will see your face; when I awake you will reveal yourself to me.” Messiah was destined to die, but also destined to awake. He was laid in a tomb, but He didn’t stay asleep. He walked out of the tomb whole in body, spirit, and mind. Angels had to come and open the tomb so that we would SEE it. It was revealed under the Old Covenant and fulfilled in the New. “He is not here, but has been raised! Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,” (Luke 24:6). Jesus died. Jesus did NOT stay dead. Jesus IS the Messiah!
