“For we are saved through hope, but hope that is seen is not hope, for why does a man still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience” (Romans 8:24-25, MEV). Ever heard of a Grace Grower? Or have you ever prayed for more patience? This verse shows us that our patience grows NOT by being given more opportunities to be patient (which is what those first two things really are). This verse shows our patience grows by our HOPE growing. They’re proportional. The more real your hopes get, the larger and richer, the more patience you have. You’re more patient with children asking for food when you don’t have to make it. When you know it’s on the way and within a short time will arrive and satisfy all those little mouths and bellies. It’s harder to be patient with them when the fridge is bare and you don’t know where the next meal is coming from. That’s where God comes in. He is our SOURCE and He is More Than Enough! When we KNOW that, the hope we have in that promises’ fulfillment strengthens. The more our hope is centered on Him, the more patient we are. If you struggle with patience, grow your hope. Get your eyes on what God really DOES for us. See your hope sprout. Patience will follow without any fuss, muss, or method of your own. Hope is THE patience grower.
