The Spirit himself confirms to our spirit that we are children of God,

Romans 8:16

When Jesus was told that (1) the Father was pleased with Him and (2) that Jesus was the Son of God, the devil tried to get Jesus to doubt that. He tried to get Jesus to establish His identity on miracle power (which Jesus had a right to use) instead of on the words of the Father (Matthew 4:3; Luke 4:3). Jesus chose not to rely on that. He chose to stick with what the Spirit was confirming inside through the Word. Jesus spoke the Word as the authority by which He would choose His identity – and we should do the same.

What we can have is determined by who we are. That’s one of the reasons I think the modern craze of ‘identifying’ with just ONE aspect of the human condition is crazy. I understand their motivations, but why limit yourself to just ONE thing? Why not be a fully formed and rounded human? I get that they don’t feel they can without having that one thing as their core identity, but it is still crazy. Mostly because I know the objective TRUTH that we get the fullness of everything we can be through Adonai and not through human thinking. That Word-based identity is a whole package beyond anything WE could have come up with. Full of Mercy and Grace and the finished work of Jesus’ sacrifice.

It’s easy to read things like “He made the one who did not know sin to be sin on our behalf, in order that we could become the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21) or “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s possession, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9) or even “and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me, and that life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). But are they truly the experience we live day to day? They CAN be because Jesus said so. The Word tells us so. How do we manage it? Resting in Jesus by TRUST. How do we HAVE that trust? Because Ruach HaKodesh confirms with our spirit what we have been shown in the Word. Without that divine confirmation, we might not have the boldness to truly believe and trust in this New Covenant identity. But it IS who we are in Jesus.

Who would DARE to say they were children of Yahweh Himself? To raise themselves to that level of kinship and familiarity? Only the deluded or the confirmed. I thank Adonai that He confirms with us what He said in His Word. So we don’t think of ourselves as less than HE says we are. So that we don’t rob ourselves of our inheritance or our familial rights that HE has offered to us. So that we don’t believe that we are currently poor sinners scraping by waiting for the good stuff once we die, but so that we seize hold of who HE says we are and we walk in the fruitfulness HE says we can enjoy (spiritually first, and then throughout our lives). What a GREAT confirmation of such a GOOD God!

Ruach HaKodesh doesn’t simply record on our spirit what the Word says about us. He actively participates with us, correcting us to ensure that we have a good record of faithful obedience (Matthew 25:23). We don’t have a standoffish God, but one who is right there with us ALL the time (Matthew 28:20). One who understands us (Hebrews 4:15-16) and helps us (1 John 2:1).

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Deuteronomy 8:18

But you must remember Yahweh your God, for he is the one giving you strength to acquire wealth in order to confirm his covenant that he swore to your ancestors as it is today.” Adonai doesn’t rain down money from heaven. That is NOT how He prospers us. Instead, He confirms and affirms the Blessing He laid on humanity (Genesis 1:28-30). He watches over that word and performs it through the blessing of our labour (Jeremiah 1:12). Why would we need a cheque in the mail when everything we touch supernaturally produces more than we need it to? Abraham didn’t do anything special. He didn’t fast or pray or make sacrifice for abundance. He simply trusted Adonai was good for His word (James 2:23) and watched as he grew, and grew, and grew (Genesis 13:2). Adonai promises the same for us first spiritually, and then the rest of our lives (3 John 2). Which is an important order because if He isn’t first you don’t really have prosperity. Instead, anything you acquire has a hold on you. Adonai’s riches (spiritual, mental, emotional, relational, physical, or financial) come with no hooks, no barbs, sorrow, and no hidden fineprint (Proverbs 10:22). Be led by Ruach HaKodesh, lean into Adonai as your Source, and watch Him multiply what you put your hands to. What a GOOD God!

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
