Fear No Fear

If we live by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit.

Galatians 5:25

95% of dieters end up regaining the weight they lost within two years. A lack of willpower and Adonai-derived moral character in the dieter leaves our bodies operating according to the rules of fallen creation. Our bodies react to calorie deprivation as if there is a possibility of us experiencing lack with countermeasures that include metabolic, hormonal and neurological changes. Like with ANYTHING touching on willpower and moral character, if we are not getting our strength and identity from Jesus and the Word, we are in a shoddy state. We have Adonai as our Source so we CANNOT diminish (Psalm 23). But the body won’t believe it. Without information coming from our spirit (which is Christ’s own – 2 Corinthians 5:21), we’re at the mercy of feelings. Feelings are like the rest of our physical senses. They look at what is SEEN and operate according to programming. Without better information, we’ll take those feelings and emote them. Our behaviour will fall into line with our emotions like they are supposed to, and we will be letting our body run the show instead of telling our body how it’s supposed to operate. Sound like unbelievable fantasy? It’s how Adam and Eve did it before they ate fruit they shouldn’t have. In, through, and for Jesus, we can do the same. But MAN is it easy to step out from that spiritual reality and walk in the flesh. Why? It’s not WILLPOWER but only SPIRIT POWER that accomplishes true change, true blessing, true any and everything – and it ALWAYS comes first (3 John 2).

In the natural, diets don’t work because they are RESTRICTIVE and the flesh does NOT like being restricted. We force ourselves and we develop new patterns of behaviour – and spend all our time looking back and remembering all the plusses while ignoring all the negatives (Numbers 11:5). Sooner or later you have a ‘cheat day’. Why? You tell yourself that you’ll be better at behaving when you let loose with abandon once in a while. In fact, there are people in the public eye that positively worship and glorify their gluttony on cheat days. It makes my skin crawl – and I have not always been known for my restraint, let me tell you.

Everything of this physical world is meant to be controlled by the spiritual. Not the spiritual world – that’s opening doors you don’t want open (Genesis 4:7) – but the SPIRIT. Ruach HaKodesh leading us. Us taking, eating, and letting His Fruit be our fuel. Emoting HIS feelings, not ours. Choosing HIS words, not ours. Doing what HE shows us, not what we want. It is NOT restricting, it is FREEING. Nothing feels better for longer than doing right in harmony with Adonai. In fact, it is one of the few things that lasts FOREVER. We are very distrustful of anything that we are told lasts forever. This world is fallen. Death is here. Entropy is real. Everything is failing, devolving, and lessening. The only reason anyone can have the faith to believe in evolution is because Creation is fallen and the natural world has to adapt to the devolving conditions to keep from going extinct. But the things of the Spirit last forever because they are not based in THIS Created realm. It is the SPIRIT that is forever, not us. If you want forever changes, then accept the changes in the Spirit.

We need a spiritual lifestyle change. In the natural a lifestyle change – instead of a temporary restriction – will work best of all the changes you can make. Because you seek to replace negative thing A with positive thing B. You develop a taste for B. On the whole you stop wanting A. Because you live with the blessing of B. You breathe better, move better, live better. And it gets hard to go back. If you get a taste of life with Ruach HaKodesh, you will like it. It is abundant. It is full of freedom. There is no addiction. There are no cravings for the old things. Yes, we have habits to get His Light on, but that’s why we renew our minds (Romans 12:2). When we keep our eyes on Him, our eyes on His Word, as much as we can. In small pieces or large. Praying it, hearing it, reading it, thinking on it, and asking Him about it. When we do that, it becomes easy because HE does and has done the heavy lifting. It’s SO SIMPLE. It is freeing. It is transforming. It is THE Way.

When we learn to walk His path, and live His Way. When we learn to let Ruach HaKodesh lead us, guide us, instruct us, CORRECT us, and empower us according to the Word of Adonai, we will be NEW. We will be walking in who we really are. We will not be on a diet, we will be living a lifestyle. A lifestyle of Spirit. His Spirit. It is a reason He came. To dwell within us. To dwell in the US that He always knew we could be. Inside every unfit person is a fit person trying to get out. Inside every sinner is an Adonai-believing Spirit-filled person of Trust in Adonai. Inside every uninspired believer is an empowered Christ-like person of Trust in Adonai. We can be free to be everything HE says we can be. If we walk in the SPIRIT, we will be TOO busy, TOO fulfilled, TOO joyful, TOO peaceful, and TOO vibrant to be ANYTHING ELSE. It truly is a LIFESTYLE (John 10:10).

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: 1 Chronicles 29:12

“And wealth and glory are from you, and you rule over all. And in your hand is power and might. And in your hand is power to make great and to give strength to all.” Adonai has power. Yes, it is power as we think of power. Strength. Might. But He has something else. Power in a spiritual sense. It implies the capacity to perform tasks or achieve goals. What it is really talking about is AUTHORITY. Adonai has so much authority He doesn’t need strength or might – although He has both. He has so much authority He speaks a word and that word manifests into physical reality. His WORDS carry the strength and power of Almighty Omnipotence in physicality. “in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the world, who is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, sustaining all things by the word of power. When he had made purification for sins through him, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high” (Hebrews 1:2-3). Jesus upholds all things by the AUTHORITY of His WORDS. When Adonai says something about you, that thing IS. You can refuse it. You can reject it. You can try to make something else your thing that is. But if you try it you’ll be on the outs like the devil was. He tried to make something else his thing with all his might and power and strength and warfare and he couldn’t hold onto his place (Revelation 12:7-9). You won’t hold onto yours, either. Because you can’t. You do NOT get authority because of strength, might, or power. You get strength, might, and power because of authority. Using His authority, Jesus brought us to His Father as a gift. We were brought into the family. And as part of His family, we have the right to use the authority of His name according to His Word – not however we like. That authority was given to us so that we could create wealth and power (Deuteronomy 8:18). So we can not only be Blessed, but to be a BLESSING. Nothing can stop us from being that blessing but US. Because His authority was given to us, taken back from the ones who only temporarily had power. Now they have no might, no power, and no strength. And we – in and through and for Jesus – are back to where we began. The authority and the mandate to be a blessing to everyone even as we ourselves are blessed. Spiritually first, and mentally, emotionally, relationally, physically, and financially second. Not only can WE not be kept down, neither can anyone else around us! What a GOOD God!
