“For the gospel was preached to us as well as to them. But the word preached did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith in those who heard it” (Hebrews 4:3, MEV). Too often I’ve read scripture as a declaration but ended up reciting an incantation. Using it to ward off evil or bad circumstances simply by speaking the words. I know the Word has power, and I’m not trying to do it improperly, but so often my trust has been in the WORDS and not THE Word – Messiah Jesus (John 1:14). Reciting the words has a benefit because we hear them (Romans 10:17). But that’s it. It is only when our trust pierces THROUGH the words to the One BEHIND the words that anything happens. When our trust is in Yahweh, when we mix our trust in Him with the words we speak, then they accomplish His purposes because He can put power into words that agree with Himself (Matthew 19:26). We do NOT want to speak words without trust in them (Acts 19:13-17). Nothing happens. But if we will get into harmony with God and speak what He gives us, trusting that He CAN and that He WILL fulfill them, THEN we have a powerhouse exploding from our mouths when we declare what God has spoken. Amen.
