“I know that you are Abraham’s seed. But you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you” (John 8:37). We are heirs of Abraham. His seed (Galatians 3:29). Are we seeking to embrace the abundant life (spirit first, then soul and body) that Jesus brought to us (John 10:10)? Or are we unable to even see the possibility because while we are amassing knowledge of it, His Word has no PLACE in us? Remember that the people Jesus was speaking to here were scholars. Well versed in the Word. They knew it by heart as well as the major teachings and opinions on it of the last few hundred years. They were dripping with the Word. But it had no PLACE in them. It is easy to memorise scripture. To speak out declarations of it and mean it. But if it isn’t inside us in its rightful place, we have no trust in Him through it that we can engage. Jesus IS the Word. HE needs to be first place. And His Word needs first place right alongside Him, because He is it and it is Him. That means we take it as it is written. Literally. We BELIEVE it. We don’t try to explain it away or twist it to our purpose. We BELIEVE it. As written. Verbatim. When we do that, it’s hard to go wrong. When we do that, we cultivate our heart’s soil so that we can truly produce for Him what He says we can do. Giving the Word first place beside Jesus who is also in first place is the ONLY way to go. Read it. Study it. BELIEVE it. As written.
