“Sacrifice a thank offering to God, and pay your vows to the Most High, and call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will glorify Me” (Psalm 50:14-15, MEV). It isn’t easy to be thankful. It’s simple, but it isn’t easy. It can be hard. Our flesh is a raging torrent of feelings. A thousand thousand nerve endings all wanting us to understand how they FEEL. For us to know what they are EXPERIENCING. And to act accordingly. But like when cold hits and we wear sweaters. Like when heat hits and we turn on the a/c. Like when rain comes and we use an umbrella. Feelings come and we THANK THE LORD. We can see HIS point of view. We can see HIS morality. We can see HIS promises. By thanking Him, we get our minds into agreement with Him. We accept what we SEE in Him instead of what we FEEL in us. It takes some mental training (Romans 12:2). It takes truly trusting in Jesus (Romans 10:17). It takes being humble and admitting He knows best. But when we are thankful and giving glory to Him, nothing can touch us because God defends us. God protects us. God gathers us under His wings (the ones which have healing). The enemy can’t touch us. We are surrounded by the One who will NEVER leave us (Hebrews 13:8; Deuteronomy 31:8). Thanksgiving might be hard some days, but it is worth cooperating with God mentally. It puts us in a place of real freedom. Freedom from feelings, which change more than the wind does. Who can rely on THEM for ANYTHING?!? Give thanksgiving to God and enjoy the snuggles He gives back.
