Ruach HaKodesh “Midwife”

But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water came out immediately.

John 19:34

Birth is messy. I’ve been there for five, seen the aftermath of six, and was prepared to deliver one. Lots of blood. Lots of water. Lots of lots. TOTALLY worth it – from everyone involved, not just me – but VERY messy. I don’t know if it was meant to be that way from the beginning, but it certainly is what we’re walking in now. Jesus’ death was messy. LOTS of blood. Lots of exposure. And when His side was pierced, a LOT of blood and water came out. Yes, it was proof that He had actually expired (medically speaking). But it was also the moment that Jesus gave birth to His church and His bride.

The first Adam needed an equal partner and companion (Genesis 2:18). Adonai caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam and removed a chamber of his side (translated as ‘rib’, but it means more than that). From that came Adam (as named by Adonai, showing their complete and total equality within their physical differences – Genesis 5:2) or Eve (as named by Adam who saw her origin as their single difference – Genesis 3:20). The last Adam (Jesus – 1 Corinthians 15:45) was put to sleep (death) and His bride was birthed from the chamber of His side. That was the prophetic moment that the church was birthed, that the bride was birthed. We will see our complete fulfillment of that moment when we are presented to Jesus (Revelation 21:2; 2 Corinthians 11:2)

That is what Jesus birthed. Ruach HaKodesh assists in ANOTHER birth. The birth of a specific type of healing. When Jesus was stabbed in the side with the spear, Jesus’ heart was LITERALLY broken by the speartip. Jesus’ blood HEALS broken hearts (Luke 4:18; Psalm 147:3). He puts them back together and enables us to continue full and whole. Through the ministry of Ruach HaKodesh, we are able to see what is accomplished in our spirits: nothing missing and nothing broken. Through Ruach HaKodesh, we can see that we are Shalom (Genesis 15:15; Numbers 6:24-26). Our comfort is that we are WHOLE. We go through life thinking that we’re missing something. That we need to FIND ourselves. That we need to experiment and taste test and get ourselves out there, throwing our butts into the ring, and FIND that which is not there. But Ruach HaKodesh is SHOWING us what is missing: the knowledge of who we are in Jesus’ love.

Think of the years of wandering that can be avoided. Think of the things we put ourselves through and what we allow other people to do to us that wouldn’t need to exist. Think of the protection of our hearts that we could have. Think of how ALL of that can be restored in Jesus. Either way, Jesus has the answer and Ruach HaKodesh is pointing the way. He is giving us a masterclass in restoration, forgiveness, and birth into a NEW thing. A PURE thing. A thing that embodies the unlimited LOVE that Jesus has for us. That goes beyond mere comfort into an EXPLOSION of JOYFUL THANKSGIVING! What a WONDERFUL God we serve. What a MERCIFUL and GRACIOUS Creator who made us. Who WOULDN’T want to give their lives to Him? Who WOULDN’T want to be cherished in His love? Who WOULDN’T want to prepare themselves to be the best bride they could be – especially when HE does the work, HE does the renewing, HE does the overhaul, and WE only need to OBEY? What a comfort the love of our Saviour and Lord is. What a comfort we hear in our ears EVERY moment of EVERY day. May we keep the Word in our eyes and in our minds so that our ears can stay clear. May we NEVER miss so much as a WHISPER from He who tells us of He who gave birth to us. Amen.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Isaiah 30:21

And your ears shall hear a word from behind you, saying, “this is the way; walk in it,” when you go to your right and when you go to your left.” Don’t go to the left OR to the right, but walk in the centre of Adonai’s will (Proverbs 4:27; Deuteronomy 5:32-33). Easy to read, but how do we do it? Adonai is a GOOD God. He doesn’t make us guess. He doesn’t leave us floundering around. He tells us to do something and then He both equips and guides us to and through it. Do NOT worry. Do NOT fear. Do NOT be troubled. He is telling us to CHOOSE not to be those things. How can we do THAT? We’ve trained ourselves to think that they are automatic feelings. That we have NO choice about it. But Adonai is whispering to us. He is speaking to us. He is right there with us, hands on our shoulders, feeding into our ears His Voice. Telling us the way to go, the way to walk, the words to say, the things to do. He is telling us when we veer left or veer right. He is telling us EVERYTHING. He asks us to walk a certain way and then tells us exactly how to do that, coaching us through the experience, and adjusting what He says based on what we ACTUALLY get our feet to do, so that we end up WHERE He wants and HOW He wants. Nothing, not even ONE thing, left to chance. What a GOOD God!
