“because on the first attempt without you the Lord struck out against us since we did not seek Him properly” (1 Chronicles 15:13, MEV). I have two doors in my house. One has a large covered porch and one has an open porch. The previous owners had used the covered porch as their front door. But one of the things we did when we purchased the home was change which door was the front door. Signs went up to use the other door. Gates were kept closed. A raised garden was put in where previously a vehicle had been parked. We ignore that door as an entrance completely. We changed the whole way to enter our home. You know what? It was OUR right. It is OUR home. WE get to decide how people enter our home. Why? Because it is OUR home. David learned a hard lesson when he tried to bring the ark up to Jerusalem in an improper way. It is kept in the Word as a lesson to us because we are in the same situation today. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6, MEV). God gets to choose how we come to Him. We don’t get to say that it doesn’t matter how we come to Him. We don’t get to say how many paths there are. We don’t get to say anything about it. It is HIS house. HIS choice. He’s told us what WE need to do and the attitude WE need to have. It’s OUR responsibility to get in line with HIS thinking. He’s given us all the tools, but we still need to obey. His way. His time. No matter how WE feel. HE calls us, and HE gets to choose HOW. He keeps it simple. He keeps it to the possible. We need to acknowledge that right and to get in line with Him. It’s worth it. WITH God, all things become possible.
