The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there and proclaimed the Lord by name. The Lord passed by before him and proclaimed: “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, and abounding in loyal love and faithfulness, keeping loyal love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. But he by no means leaves the guilty unpunished, responding to the transgression of fathers by dealing with children and children’s children, to the third and fourth generation.”
Exodus 34:6–7
A smile lights up a room. It lights up the face. It smooths out the darkness we have a tendency to carry with us. It reduces blood pressure. It releases endorphins, helping control pain and stress levels. Mood-enhancing hormones go up. Negative enhancers go down. It keeps you from looking tired and downtrodden. If you smile more, even when you don’t feel it, your mood will improve. You’ll start feeling what your smile has been declaring. Ruach HaKodesh is the Father’s smile inside us.
We’re told to stand on the Word (James 4:7). We’re not told to feel it. I’m not knocking feelings. But that’s not the primary way in which we interact with Adonai (John 20:29). We are primarily called into His spiritual reality. “God is spirit, and the ones who worship him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). If we KNOW the Truth, we can be sanctified by it (John 17:17). If He sanctifies us, we can begin to TRULY communicate in spirit. If we’re impure, we can’t handle the truth (Proverbs 28:5; Ephesians 4:17-19). We need that sanctification to understand what He is saying, who He is, and what the depths of His love for us are. We’ve been given Ruach HaKodesh.
When we see this truth in the Word about how we are spiritually. About whose image we are and what we really look like, we don’t always feel it. Sometimes, maybe. It certainly doesn’t come naturally. But it DOES and CAN come through trust in Jesus. Trust in His Word. We can declare what He tells us to, even when we don’t SEE it, even when we don’t FEEL it. It isn’t about this half of us, but the other half of us. The sealed by Ruach HaKodesh pure and holy spirit that we have. The part of us in constant communication with the Father, dancing before the throne, in heaven even as we are here – just like Jesus was: “No one has ascended to heaven except He who descended from heaven, even the Son of Man who is in heaven” (John 3:13, MEV). Jesus was in two places and we are in two places. In Jesus the communication between the two parts was PERFECT. In us, it is BY Rauch HaKodesh and THROUGH Jesus – we are NOT perfect (yet).
Ruach HaKodesh is the smile we need to keep on trucking. To change our atmosphere. To engage our praise and let His healing power flow – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. We praise Adonai whether we feel like it or not and end up feeling like it because how can you help it when you have a smile that BIG beaming out from inside you? He equalises us. The negative thoughts/feelings/whispers decrease. The positive, Elohim-centered thoughts/feelings/declarations increase. It makes the world of such a spiritual technicolor vibrancy that the blind can see. The deaf can hear. The depressed smile with JOY. The anxious have peace. The confused have clarity. It’s all trust activated. And our trust comes alive under that smile. The Word grows our capacity, Ruach HaKodesh sparks it to life. There’s healing – total restoration – under His wings, and Ruach HaKodesh is the breath that unfurls them.
If in our bodies we can smile and alter not only our body chemistry, but our mental landscape and outlook; think of what He can do in, through, and around us if we utilise Ruach HaKodesh and learn to unleash our spiritual smile. Think of the life we would have if we took Jesus at His word, believed Him, and trusted that all things WERE possible as long as we do it WITH Adonai (Matthew 19:26). If we did, we could glorify God with EVERYTHING we did (thought, word, and deed) – just like Jesus did (John 14:13).
The smile is Adonai’s GRACIOUSNESS (Psalm 80:7). It is the physical expression of His character of Grace. What is more soothing than a genuine smile pointed at you? To let you know HE isn’t angry. To let you know His wrath toward sin was satisfied through the cross and will NOT pour out on you unless you want it to (by rejecting Jesus). What better way to demonstrate His love than a smile of forgiveness and fellowship – both possible through Ruach HaKodesh living in you. His Lordship isn’t about control, but FREEDOM. Freedom from sin. Freedom from bondage. Freedom from broken thinking. Freedom from negativity. Freedom from lack. Freedom from enforced decreasing. Freedom from death. That’s worth a smile, right? A picture is worth a thousand words, but His smile is worth a thousand spirits – ours, free in Him (Psalm 57:11). And you know what? He smiles a LOT.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: 1 John 1:5
“This then is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all” Pure light cannot be broken down. It is not made of separate wavelengths or different colours. If it was to go through a prism, it would come out the other side the same as it went in. It is more vibrant, or brighter, than regular light (which is a composite). It is VERY rare. We’ve harnessed pure light (like a laser, for example), but it doesn’t show up in nature with frequency. Adonai is light that is truly PURE. It can be general, or it can be focused to such a fine point it can make microscopic insertions into our souls and bodies (Hebrews 4:12). It is so powerful that when we finally stand before Jesus in His physical person, it will blast our flesh right off of us and we will stand there renewed INSTANTLY into just what He is (1 Corinthians 15:52). But He’s not making us wait. He embraces us and enfolds us into the eternity of Himself even NOW (1 John 3:2). What a GOOD God!

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
