Fear No Fear

And Yahweh passed over before him, and he proclaimed, “Yahweh, Yahweh, God, who is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding with loyal love and faithfulness, keeping loyal love to the thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and he does not leave utterly unpunished, punishing the guilt of fathers on sons and on sons of sons on third and fourth generations.”

Exodus 34:6-7

I was given a gift by Adonai. I am cunning. Crafty. Not snake-level cunning, by any means, but I’m pretty good. The problem was that I used it for the devil. I was being cunning his way. I was not being truthful. In fact, I got so good and so comfortable with lying that if given a choice between truth and a lie – even if there was zero reason not to tell the truth – I would lie. I’ve been with my covenant partner for a long time now. I’ve had to work on truth. I’ve had to discipline myself to it. It’s been HARD. But when I was willing to let Adonai in on it? It became SO simple. He IS truth. And He has it in abundance. “in the hope of eternal life which God, who does not lie, promised before eternal ages,” (Titus 1:2).

The Word is true. The Ruach is true. The Father is true. They are all true. Yahweh IS truth. Objective, longer than eternal, unwavering, unadulterated truth. He is so true that the book He wrote can affect the chemistry in our brains and the stuff of our spirits and change how we operate. It simply shines a light on His Truth. You hear that a lot these days. My truth, your truth, their truth. People tell ‘their’ truth and you’re supposed to support them even if it isn’t objectively true. Everyone is leaning into a varied strata of existence where you can decide whether something is true or not. But that’s not how truth works. Truth is TRUE regardless of whether you believe it, agree with it, follow it, or apply it. You can do nothing to the truth except accept it or reject it.

Ruach HaKodesh tells NOTHING but truth. Unvarnished, but without thorns. It doesn’t wound us, even as it cuts through our nonsense. It’s not a weapon to make us hurt. It’s a curtain being pulled back so we can enjoy the light. He has an infinite store of it. And He ALWAYS shares it – it’s us who fail to listen. But if we will, the light goes on and clarity descends. Explodes on in, really. In a peaceful, tremendous, and loving way. The thing about truth is that when you TRULY see it, you CANNOT deny it. You KNOW that you KNOW that you KNOW that you KNOW it. We do various things with it, but if we let it mould us (Romans 12:2), it will transform us into something beautiful and pure.

The only thing that can kill a lie is the truth. Facts change. Opinions change. Feelings change. Socially accepted behaviour, ideals, conditions, and even laws change. But the truth is the truth of yesterday, the truth in the beginning of it all, and will remain the truth long into the future. Truth IS truth, when it is Adonai’s truth. He created everything. Therefore, He is the ONLY thing outside of creation. Only HE can see the truth. And He isn’t shy with it. He LOVES to share it. He is always offering it, and He NEVER runs out.

Truth is humbling. It doesn’t always paint us in the best light – by human thinking. By BROKEN thinking. Why do we want to have our best foot forward, instead of our real feet forward? We’re not always the best. We’re not always the smartest person in the room. We don’t always have the best ideas. We always have something to learn. We always need help. We are always ready to be a team. The truth will always cut at the ankles of pride. It will always blow away the smoke of our lies. It will always speak about what is really real from Adonai’s point of view. I have learned that all my good ideas were Adonai’s. I can think of things that will work, that will make do. But it’s all baling wire and duct tape. If I have anything with lasting power, with real solutions, it came from Adonai.

The truth sets us free (John 8:32). Everything that isn’t truth is a pebble on the path of ignorance. Ignorance is the opposite of knowledge. Without knowledge, death holds sway (Hosea 4:6). We need the truth. We need Adonai’s knowledge. It can be a better way to fold clothes and solve our storage situation. It can be a new technology that revolutionizes the way we make vehicles. It can be about how to make your partner smile. It can be about how to walk with Him. Knowledge in truth – humble, not prideful – we are a blessing and a help to all (including ourselves). Ruach HaKodesh is the Spirit of Truth first because He IS truth, but second because He has truth FOR US.

Don’t be afraid of it. Use it. Ask for it. If we ask, He gives (James 1:5). Use it in His service. The truth blesses you. The truth glorifies Adonai. It is a ministry of comfort, because you ALWAYS know what is really going on. You’re not taken in when you’re leaning on and learning His truth. Never lose His perspective. Never deceive yourself. Truth isn’t always comfortable, but that’s only showing you a sharp edge of your own personality. John 17:17 shows us that Adonai uses the truth to establish us and make us legitimate. Not pretenders. Not fakers. The real deal because HE is the real deal and we’re relying on Him for everything.The truth brings FREEDOM and Ruach HaKodesh NEVER runs out.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: 1 John 3:2-3

“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that whenever he is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is. And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as that one is pure.” It will only take a LOOK from Jesus to transform us. You know that effect that you see in movies or cartoons where a powerful gust of wind comes and all their clothes fly off? It will be like that. We will stand before Jesus in the flesh for the first time – not a vision, not in the spirit – and His full and total nature will be exposed to our meat suit made from fallen physical material. In a MOMENT it will fly off of us and reveal a body made from PURE material. Like mud flying off a dirty vehicle in a car wash, we will be revealed as the creations He always knew that we were. What a great hope we have. To have what is now only spiritual be a TOTAL existence for us. No shortcomings. No weaknesses. Just mirrors totally and absolutely reflecting Adonai. Imagine the smiles that day. Imagine the shouts of worship and glory as we see even more of Jesus revealed to us. Imagine the fellowship that will be possible. What a humbling experience full of Absolut joy that will be. That kind of hope can bring you through the darkest days, the tremendous storms of this world, and all the persecution the enemy can devise. Because Jesus is our anchor, our hope, and the mechanism by which Adonai’s glory will be revealed in us. What a great hope. What a GOOD God!
