Daily Affirmation #111

Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; guard my life from dread of the enemy” (Psalm 64:1, MEV). Our lives are safe in God’s hands, but like any soldier, David knew that sometimes sacrifices are needed. It’s possible to be safe and secure and still give your life. Look at the Twelve. Only John died peacefully. But all of them were in Jesus’ hands. The REAL fight is in the mind. What David was praying for rescue from was the FEAR of the enemy. Peter, John, and the early church prayed the same thing in Acts 4:29. The issue isn’t what is or is not going to happen to us (Hebrews 13:6). The issue is the fear that could keep us from doing what we know is right. If we keep our eyes on Him and His peace, then fear can get no hold on us. Fear can’t stop us. And we GET that unstoppable trust when we know God’s love. “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. Whoever fears is not perfect in love” (1 John 4:18, MEV). Our prayer should be like these other believers. May we be preserved from the FEAR of the enemy by knowledge of the love Jesus has for us (Ephesians 3:18-21). Fear will NOT stop us from doing His work when we are focused on His love for us!
