“This is the confidence we have in his presence: if we ask anything that accords with his will, he hears us” (1 John 5:14, CJB). This is the crux of every unanswered prayer. If we pray according to His Word, which is His will, He hears us and answers us. Every. Single. Time. We might not see the physical arrival when WE want, but we absolutely know the package is in the mail and will get to us As Soon As He Says It’s Possible. Period. Full stop. If we stay in His will and ask according to that will, what reason could He have to say no?? I can think of none. We might have to wait on someone else’s cooperation. We might need to wait until we can handle it without negative hooks. We might need to rephrase our prayers to ask for something bigger and better – He blesses us so we can also bless others, not to just squeak by – or that suits us. That’s it. We want what He wants when we pray according to His will. If we’re ever being told a flat out no, we’re praying the WRONG prayer (James 4:3). Remember that since we love Him, we want His experience to come to Earth (your will be done, right?). We don’t get that praying from our perspective. And since He ALREADY meets all our NEEDS, we’re talking extras anyway! Health is our right, work for His glory our right, productivity is our right, multiplying our resources is our right, and all are part of the salvation package. What else IS there? Doing it all HIS WAY. And that means praying according to His will, taking correction, and learning to be more and more like Jesus every day. When we pray that way, we KNOW He hears us! We’re not trying to beat through the open doors of heaven (that would look SO silly). We’re talking to the Living One who is right beside the inside of ourselves. We can whisper, He’s there. He is ACTIVELY listening. Prayer is a privilege, the Word is a conversation, and Holy Spirit is there to help us look at it all from His point of view. God isn’t hiding, clamming up, or not talking. He ALWAYS talks to us. We need to listen and then pray according to His will. There is great comfort in that if you’ll receive it.
