Daily Affirmation #117

“Thus says the Lord: You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers the children of Israel. Every man is to return to his house, for this thing is from Me.” They listened therefore to the word of the Lord and turned to depart, according to the word of the Lord.” (1 Kings 12:24, MEV). This king was NOT wise. The people of the NATION had just said lower taxes or we’re not following you. His response? More taxes! They walked. He’d just lost ten twelfths of his kingdom. Naturally, he gathered his men to go to war and win it back. God came and said, no. No fighting. And this foolish, FOOLISH king? Immediately unpacked and sent everyone home. If God wasn’t going to be in it, they weren’t going to do it. Period. They were out. Back to farming, lads. We didn’t need them and their stupid taxes anyway, right? I have no idea what he was thinking in any other area, but when God spoke, he heeded God. That’s a head space more of us need to inhabit. It isn’t about what we want. It isn’t about what we think is a good idea. It’s all about what God has asked. It’s all about God’s point of view. We can only see so far, and what we see is a product of what we think we know, based on what we’ve experienced in the past. God’s point of view sees everything all at once, and is a product of what He knows and His experience of the future, the present, and the past. He knows where we got, how we got there, and has the tools to see that we go farther and better when we decide to go. Mind boggling, but from HIS point of view, simple. He asked. We do. It can be simple to us too. Not always easy, but simple. Don’t complicate it. Obedience it. No matter what your plans, how well made, or how far along the journey. When He says do it this way or nope, change course or pull the plug. Do it His way, in His timing, as He enables you. Obedient motion in His direction every time. There’s no other way to fly. He loves us too much NOT to correct us. If we love Him too? We’ll TAKE the correction.
