“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth!” (Psalm 100:1, MEV). Make a joyful NOISE! You don’t need to know all the words. You don’t need to know the tune. You don’t need to know how to sing. If you can make noise, make noise. Babies are the best praisers around. When they choose to express their enthusiasm, they wiggle, they smash things, they cry and gurgle and make all KINDS of noise that means I don’t know what. We’re not asked to do something weird. We’re asked to do something heartfelt. Not even something well. Just do it. Just make noise. Don’t know any songs? Try crying Hallelujah, God is so good, or God you are so merciful on repeat. Over and over, and mean them every time you say them. Say them as statements of fact, not tagged to you or anything around you. He simply and truthfully IS good. He IS merciful. He IS Yah! We can put emotion into that. We can put more when we realize how good He’s been to US. How merciful to US. As John put it, he was the disciple Jesus FORGAVE (I’ve read that in Aramaic, this is a better translation than just loved; but both apply). When we know what we have been forgiven from. Just how much we have been set free. Doesn’t this make you WANT to thank Him? Even in VERY simple words? That’s praise too. We need to praise Him a lot more than we do. In all kinds of ways and times. He deserves it. He is just SO GOOD and MERCIFUL, isn’t He? Don’t be shy. Don’t be embarrassed. Just praise Him. Praise Him with the JOY of His presence. Every day.
