Daily Affirmation #120

I slept, but my heart was awake. A sound! My beloved is knocking. “Open to me, my sister, and my love, my dove, my perfect one; for my head is wet with dew, my locks with the drops of the night.”” (Song of Songs 5:2, MEV). We may sleep, but our hearts within us are awake. When we go to sleep, we can lay ourselves into the hands of God (Psalm 3:5). When we wake up, our lips can start our days with praise because our spirits have been communing with God all night long. Being taught (Psalm 16:7-9), being encouraged with song (Psalm 42:8), and kept safe in all ways (Psalm 4:8). We are not left on our own during the time our sleep comes upon us. If we are following Him during our daylight hours, the Lord covers us during our sleeping hours. Since God NEVER sleeps (Psalm 121:4), we are then NEVER without fellowship with Him. There is no weak time. There is no undefended time. When our free will SEEMS to be slumbering, we are actually ACTIVE with God. We can wake in a moment, declaring His Word and standing against ANY attack. We can wake every morning, praise on our lips, starting our day focusing on Him. We can be ready at ANY and EVERY moment because He is READY, He is PRESENT, and He is FAITHFUL. He’s a GOOD God, isn’t he?
