“Now Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a messenger, but before the messenger came to him, Elisha said to the elders, “Are you aware that this son of a murderer has sent a man to take off my head? When the messenger enters, shut the door and hold it against him. Is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”” (2 Kings 6:32, MEV). This is another example of how clearly Elisha heard from God. He heard things before they happened more than once. He was positioned to help his king, minister to individual people, and act so that his own life was preserved. He got it all from the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13). We’re told several times in the Word that Holy Spirit seeks to have us hear Him. That He is talking to us ALL THE TIME. God is NEVER silent. The problem isn’t God, it’s us. WE stop hearing. WE harden our heart. WE reject His words. WE stop obeying. There are a lot of things that can cause an issue to make it SEEM like He has stopped speaking, but none of them are the reality. They are the reality on OUR side. WE have stopped listening. If Elisha as an Old Covenant believer could have this kind of relationship with God, how much MORE could WE – as long as we stay humbled, submitted, and listening? Since we have a better covenant (Hebrews 8:6), we should have better results. If we don’t HE isn’t the problem. Get the Word out. Get some obedience and some praise going, and clean out those ears.
