Fear No Fear

The light of the full moon will be like the sun’s glare, and the sun’s glare will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven days, when the Lord binds up his people’s fractured bones and heals their severe wound.

What wound would be described by Adonai as severe? The ONLY wound that COULD be severe. The severing of fellowship between Yahweh and humanity. The betrayal of trust and the decision to worship another (following the instructions of another). The devil came in, used the gift of shrewdness that the serpent had been given (Genesis 3:1), raised DOUBT, and got them to do what HE wanted, not what YAHWEH had commanded. It was the ULTIMATE wound. It KILLED Adam’s spirit, Eve’s spirit, and all their descendants (since the offspring is made of the same stuff as the parent). We – through Adam – became UNRIGHTEOUS where before Adam had been RIGHTEOUS. The first Adam let sin enter the world instead of staying on the shoulders of the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41).

Severe wounds leave a mark. Minor wounds tend to heal on their own. Severe wounds are a different matter. What you’re dealing with depends on the extend of the wound. Infections can develop in wounds. Complications can develop. Sin is the infection that developed in the wound of our rebellion. Complications developed. There can be an overgrowth of scar tissue (called keloid scar tissue) in a natural wound. There is an overgrowth of scar tissue with our spiritually severe wound. “So I say this, and insist in the Lord, that you no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding, being alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts. Because they are callous, they have given themselves over to indecency for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness” (Ephesians 4:17-19).

Gangrene can develop. That is tissue death and it easily can require amputation. If it is not mercilessly cut out, it can spread and kill the host body. Cancer works the same way. Adonai was aware of this, which is why the Law came with some of the penalties that it came with. If the people who had given themselves over to rebellion in such deep ways weren’t dealt with, they would spread the infection of their love of their sin and infect the whole body of Israel. “They must declare to the elders of his city, “Our son is stubborn and rebellious and pays no attention to what we say—he is a glutton and drunkard.” Then all the men of his city must stone him to death. In this way you will purge wickedness from among you, and all Israel will hear about it and be afraid” (Deuteronomy 21:20-21).

This is a SEVERE wound. One of the complications that has arisen is LACK. Lack of imagination. Lack of trust. Lack of belief. Lack of a desire to seek. Lack of LUSTRE. Adonai Elohim is a SHINING BEACON in existence. He is LIGHT. He shines. Jesus came forth from the mouth of Elohim and became the source of light for this planet before there were stars in the sky or a sun to warm us. Jesus WAS light. Our light. That has NOT changed. So frequently we have shrunk away from that light. Trying to hide our scars. Trying to nurse our wounds. Trying to pretend that in fact, we are not covered in scars.

Jesus came to be our light again. He has ALWAYS been our physical light. “The Son is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, and he sustains all things by his powerful word, and so when he had accomplished cleansing for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high” (Hebrews 1:3). His light holds us up – whether we want to admit it or not. He is our light. Now, truthfully He has also always been our SPIRITUAL light, but we have tried to refuse to believe it. Jesus came to make sure that by hearing the message we could no longer run, no longer hide, no longer pretend, no longer avoid the FACT that He is our LIGHT and we ALL need to respond to that. “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14).

The devil had to borrow shrewdness because he is a spiritual idiot. He is intelligent, but he is not smart. He is unable to think of NEW. New ideas, new attacks, new angles, new ANYTHING. Every weapon of the devil is a kingdom thing he twisted. Every idea of the devil is a kingdom idea he twisted. Every reward, power, or ability of the devil is a kingdom reward, power, or ability that he twisted. He’s got NOTHING. That is great news for us, because everything he does is the same ‘ol, same ‘ol and the WORD is PACKED with how to act toward it. He prowls and moans and ambushes and tries to kill every single person on this planet, male and female, adult and child. Period. He is hate and nothing but hate. He is fear and nothing but fear. He is all talk. But he took that gift, remember? So his talk is clever and in our own selves we’re as spiritually stupid as he is. It is only ADONAI that can rebuke the devil (Jude 1:9). If we try to do it outside of Jesus, we will NOT have success. When we do it through Jesus, in His Name according to the Word, then NOTHING and NO ONE can stand against us (Romans 14:11).

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and may have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Jesus came to be the LIGHT that shows us LIFE. He did it do that HE could IMBUE us with that light. Not infect us, imbue us. Make it a part of who we are and what we are. We are to be the LIGHT of the world (Matthew 5:14-16) in HIM. “God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we would become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus came to HEAL our severe wound. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we may cease from sinning and live for righteousness. By his wounds you were healed. For you were going astray like sheep but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls” (1 Peter 2:24-25).

Jesus came and shone for us. Shone bright and clear. First from the cross and then after leaving the tomb. He shone so bright it can be seen the world over. He truly is seven times brighter, like the light of seven days all at once. Seven is the number of completion. Jesus COMPLETED the transaction for sin. He PAID the price. He is OFFERING to us TOTAL HEALING from sin. From the infection. From the complications. From the effects. From the manifestations. From the desire to indulge. COMPLETE healing. COMPLETE restoration through the communion of the New Covenant. To abide in HIM as our vine, our source, our connection to Yahweh’s Life (John 15). To be in Jesus as He is in us (1 John 4:13). To have the Spirit that the Father used to raise Jesus from the dead giving LIFE to our bodies (Romans 8:11) – spiritual AND physical.

Messiah Jesus is the BRIGHT LIGHT that renews, restores, and lets US shine just like Him. “In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

“For they harass the one whom you discipline; they spread the news about the suffering of those whom you punish.” Death is the required payment for sin (Genesis 2:17). It was the price. Yahweh enacted that price upon the sacrifice for humanity. The One who stood in our place. The Saviour chosen by Yahweh and smitten with all that had to be poured out to pay for sin. Messiah would be that sacrifice. Messiah would be smitten by Yahweh. Messiah would be the sacrifice given. “I glorified you on earth by completing the work you gave me to do” (John 17:4). “But Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword back into its sheath! Am I not to drink the cup that the Father has given me?”” (John 18:11). Jesus drank the cup of the wrath of Yahweh toward sin. Jesus was faithful and the sacrifice given to humanity. He became our Way. Jesus IS the Messiah!
